Glossary

Repository - Collection of Deployment Packages.

Topology – Resource definition of a PeopleSoft system. Define compute nodes and PSFT services running on nodes.

Template - Topology + Application Package. Defines a complete PeopleSoft environment.

Environment - PeopleSoft instance running on Cloud. Instance of a Template.


• A Topology defines the resources for the VM

• The node configuration specifies:

• Operating System used

• HW resources

• Desired tiers

• Cloning an existing topology is available.

Are only certain PeopleSoft releases certified or supported on Oracle Cloud?

• PeopleSoft certifies Operating System, Database and other infrastructure software components

• PeopleTools PROVIDES the other required infrastructure (not OS/DB)

• PeopleSoft customers have always had choice for Hardware/OS and Database platform

• PeopleSoft customers MAY use Oracle Cloud without explicit certification if the version they use certifies the Linux version on Oracle Compute

– PeopleTools 8.55 and above includes features which specifically assist Cloud Deployment through automation


Is “Production” supported? If yes, are there any prerequisites such as RACor OMCS?

• Yes “Production” is supported (including DBCS/RAC). To facilitate more complex deployments, PeopleSoft Product Development is currently testing additional system configurations and developing additional automation options, particularly using PeopleSoft Cloud Manager.

• Cloud Manager requires 9.2 applications using Oracle 12c database

– Decoupled PS_HOME

– Pluggable Database (PDB) support

• Requirements for “Lift and Shift”: PT 8.55+, Oracle 11.2.0.4+, 9.2 apps

• Leveraging OMCS or Oracle’s PeopleSoft Partners will be advantageous.
