Here, in our 24 country hub, we’ve had an amazing week, and we are looking forward to the next couple of weeks, as we have so many amazing events lined up. So here is what we’ve been up to:

Slovenia

On August 17th we visited Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and we loved their underground containers for collecting paper, plastic and glass! We also had meetings with British Embassy and British Council, and, to quote Humphrey Bogart – “we think this is a beginning of a beautiful friendship”.

We’ll be joining forces with British Embassy in Ljubljana for a 10:10 travel presentation on September 20th, during the European Mobility Week (http://www.mobilityweek.eu/), an awareness raising campaign aiming at sensibilising citizens to the use of public transport, cycling, walking and at encouraging European cities to promote these modes of transport and to invest in the new necessary infrastructures.

From 16 to 22 September 2010 the Mobility Week is the opportunity for European cities and towns to participate to the most widespread event on sustainable mobility.

Dear Friends,

The momentum for 10:10:10, our 'Global Day Of Doing', in partnership with 350.org, is really building. With exactly one month to go, it's amazing to see so many people, organizations and businesses doing their bit.

The overall aim of the European Mobility Week campaign is to encourage public awareness of the need to act against pollution caused by the increase in motorised traffic in the urban environment. In fact, it is not just a question of fighting atmospheric pollution or noise but also of improving the quality of urban life.Accordingly, that operation is centred on three types of measures, designed to:encourage the use of alternative forms of transport and travel other than private cars, raise awareness and inform city-dwellers of what is at stake so far as concerns long-term mobility in towns and the risks connected with pollution, show the town in another light thanks in particular to reduced motorised traffic within restricted areas.

Yasas from Greece!

ActionAid Hellas and British Council Athens have been keeping busy through the Challenge Europe project, and for 10:10:10 they are doing a workshop at the Green Design Festival in Athens! How cool is that!

The town of Krapina hosts 10:10 launch for Croatia, as we start our 10:10 school wave!

Many many thanks to the Mayor of Krapina, and the wonderful Ms Martina Zivicnjak, from the City Hall, for their help and hospitability! We had an amazing time with the pupils from two elementary schools, and we loved the experience of presenting 10:10 campaign to them. We have tons of photos of

«More people should drive solar cars», suggests Dario from the elementary school «Ljudevit Gaj» in Krapina. And we couldn't agree more!
