    Blessing Scam

We are working with Self Help for the Elderly to get the word out about theblessing scams. This morning, Officer To and Assistant District Attorney KarenCatalona spoke with a group of seniors. Although no cases have been reported innearly a year, we want to remind the Chinese community about the possibility ofbeing approached by women who are going to trick the victims into receiving ablessing of their valuables and jewelry. During this process, the money andjewelry are switched out for paper in a bag. There have been recent cases inNew York and Canada so we are working to be prepared here in San Francisco.

    Israeli-Irish-Italian Luncheon

Congratulations to former Officer and now Sergeant John Ferrando who receivedan award yesterday from the triple I association at the Italian Athletic Club onStockton. Sergeant Ferrando spent many years at Central Station and is nowassigned to Northern Station.

    Great Police Work

Central Station Officers have worked hard this week in making arrests andworking to keep our community safe. Since September 18, 2015, they have madeapproximately 25 arrests for auto burglary including the plainclothes teamarresting a repeat offender last night. The team made an arrest today of abicycle thief who was riding around with a battery pack saw. I will feature somegreat arrests and good police work in next weeks newsletter.

    New Assignments

Beginning on Saturday, Central Station Officers will be set for their shifts for the next 6 months. We havea sign up every 6 months and sometimes officers move from days to nights and vice versa. We havenew assignments for beats, homeless outreach and other assignments. I will make those introductions nextweek.

In conclusion, as you enjoy this weekend, please do not leave anything of value in your vehicle, andsafeguard your valuables and properties when traveling on the street and in crowds.

Have a great Fleet Week Weekend!
