Greg from Woolworths Cricket Blast came to the school to run our gala day. The decision was made in the morning to have the day at the school instead of Dickinson Oval due to the weather not being reliable. All students had a blast and everyone had a smile on their faces. After three rounds of games, five of the ACT Meteors and their coaches arrived at the school. The students went up to the hall and asked some excellent questions for the girls to answer. Congratulations to all students for their enthusiasm on the day and a big thanks to Ms Daly for coordinating the day. SCHOOL VISITORS Yesterday a group of adults from the community group U3A (led by Jillian Taylor our ex Assistant Principal) visited the Year 3/4L classroom to learn about the Dhurga language that was included in their book ‘Our Balindjang Home’. It was great having the students share their experiences of producing the book and spreading their knowledge beyond the classroom. STAFFING NEWS Mrs Loughran will be on Long Service Leave from Thursday until the end of the term. Mr McLean will be teaching Year 3/4L during this time. ATTENDANCE MATTERS Arriving at school and class on time: ensures that students don’t miss out on the important learning activities scheduled early in the day when the students are most alert helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine gives students time to greet and connect with their friends before class and therefore, reduces the opportunity for classroom disruption. Lateness is recorded as partial absence and must be explained by parents or carers in the same way as other forms of absence. REGIONAL ATHLETICS Good luck to Bella I, Seanna M, Claire, Elly W, Ziggy and Samuel G who are participating in the Regional Athletics Carnival to be held in Canberra on Friday. We look forward to hearing how you all go in your events. This is in readiness for our Stage 3 excursion to Canberra and Year 6 excursion to The Crossing early next term.
