To hear Pastor Ron explain more about the name change, check out the September 5/6 Influence Message on the website. Simply go to www.MyLifeChangeChurch.tv and click on the Media Button in the upper right-hand corner. He talks about changing the name and gives great insight on what the name change will do for us, the community, and the kingdom.

The official change- date is the weekend of October 3 and 4!

Buildings & Growth God’s Timing is Moving Ahead—Expressing Our Identity as

There are times when you just can’t contain what God has in store. That’s how we feel about God, too. One of the ways we want to express that to others is by changing our name to Life Change Church. Here are a few reasons why we believe a new name will take what we are doing here for God, to a whole new level.

1. From the rail car to the train engine. Life Change Church allows us to promote Christ in a creative way as a leader to our community and not cause confusion with other Res Life churches locally. A. Conferences B. Marketing (radio, TV, billboards) C. Mass mailers to the community

2. Life Change Church will empower our Creative Expression internationally and not compete with our Res Life family of churches. A. Dramas B. Music C. Marketing tools for services D. Graphics

3. Life Change Church defines who Christ is as a life-changer and that change is inevitable. We hear testimonies all the time from people who are changing with Christ. A. New web address is www.MyLifeChangeChurch.tv B. People need a hope that change is possible C. The name expresses hope

We are still the same on the inside. Even though the name changes, we remain con-stant with the leadership and structure of the church. We still have the same core beliefs, the same board of directors, the same leadership, and the same elder board. We also choose to remain an RLCI affiliate with the full blessing of Resurrection Life in Grandville.

Providing an environment that equips God’s team for the work of the ministry and living a God-sized life— that’s our win.

We have “wins” that define our goals and purpose. We win when we provide an environment for you to grow closer to God. Here are a few things that resemble outward signs of what God is doing on the inside here at Life Change Church.

Changes you can expect to see. The staff (along with a host of caring volunteers) has been working diligently every day to see the changes come to completion. The excitement cannot be contained much longer as the official changeover date approaches!

• Corporate Prayer 15 minutes before every service. Join the elders and the leadership for prayer. If you have a guest you are more than welcome to bring them to prayer. Whether they are in need of prayer or would simply like to join in with other believers, this time is open to everyone! Begins October 3 and 4.

• A new fellowship room will be available which will allow a place to visit and not disturb prayer.

• Touch ups around the building happened during a two-day makeover. Ceramic tiles were replaced, walls painted, landscaping cleaned up, and this building brought back up to snuff.

• The barn was reorganized with shelving so that we can be good stewards of the inventories we have.

• A new logo with our vision statement in the sanctuary.

• A new sign at the road with the new logo.

• Vinyl graphics added to Pastor Ron’s black snowmobile trailer so we can use it as a mobile billboard. We left room to have graphics promoting events applied to the trailer. The trailer can then be parked throughout the city for great advertising of community events! See photos above.

• Life Change Church T-shirts will be available Wednesday, September 30th at Encounter.

The graphic design concept from the sign company as to what the mobile “billboard” will look like is shown above. We will be able to have vinyl banners created to attach to the trailer then place the trailer around town for event promotions. The website will be across the back of the trailer also. The cost of this project is half of what a billboard on Us-31 will be for only one month. We can be great stewards with this idea!

Short-sleeved Ts are only $8, Long-sleeved Ts are $10, and Hoodies are $18. Orders will be taken as well. Available on Wednesday, September 30 at Encounter.

Creative Expression

October Message Series Embraces Change At Life Change Church we aim to do things with purpose. We believe in the Word and love what it says. Here are four short descriptions for each message in the October series Life Change. They tie in the purpose of our name change and the possibility of change with the awesome Word of God.

October 3/4—Life Change, part 1

Four and seven. This message looks at ourselves as life changers with four ac-tivities that affect our thinking and seven truths we can learn from someone who both blew it as a leader and learned how to become a great one—Moses. It’s really pretty simple when you think about what you can do to change your circumstances and the lives of those around you. For instance, think about tomorrow instead of today.

October 10/11—Life Change, part 2

Remember the old saying, “Haste makes waste”? You’ve been there before. Get into the hardware store and

realize you forgot the measurements out on the deck. After a great date night, you remember you forgot to transfer money into the checking account to pay the babysitter. Time has flown by, you see retirement fast approaching and you’re not even remotely prepared for it. Preparation is for both now and the future. God shows us how to be prepared for what’s ahead. We can learn from other’s mistakes through the Bible and this timeless message.

October 17/18—Life Change, part 3

In Life Change, part 2 we looked at the power and benefits of preparation. This message gives great direction into the how to’s and the “get ’er done” part of change. When we exhaust all avenues, what is our usual “last ditch effort”? Resort to the manual. We know we should’ve read it in the first place, so let’s dig in. It’s not that difficult and you’ll find that you’ll be glad you did.

October 24/25—Life Change, part 4

In this “Information Age” we can get so caught up in collecting facts and knowledge, we lose sight of why. This last month had a purpose in mind and that was to bring you to a point of transformation, not just information. Here’s where you take everything you’ve learned and put it before God and with his help, see life change. It’s like taking the degree you just earned, putting it on the resume and presenting yourself to a new employer. Exciting things are on your doorstep with God!

Be on the lookout for original videos, a new song written by the band and a script written by our own drama team!

Also, the first new members of Life Change Church will be recognized October 3 & 4!

Stewardship through Serving

On September 17 and September 19 we celebrated change with an entire crew of volunteers as we took this worship center for the Lord to a new level. We patched and painted walls, fixed ceramic tile, hung new light fixtures, cleaned up areas, manicured the exterior with new dolomite, stones, weeded flower beds and more! Everyone enjoyed working together to make this a house of excellence. Thank you to all who jumped in and made these days a huge success. There were many more than shown here!

Top L to R: Felicia McCrary cleans up after new cove base was installed in the sanctuary. Jonathon Scouten runs a commercial steam cleaner for the first time. Samantha Koens paints the wall in the sanctuary.

Bottom L to R: Amy and Matt Koppel scrubbed the carpet in the nursery while Derek Endres removes painter’s tape. Dave Barham tries to explain he’s not for hire. Melissa Olsen did a great job painting the walls outside the nursery.

Thanks to these people and the many others who volunteered their time on Thursday and Saturday!

Adult Ministries & Leadership Development The Nine—Young Adults Have What

it Takes to Reach Out The Nine is continuing to move ahead and develop at a steady pace. We cur-rently have 15 people on the leadership team and we are meeting every other week to seek our God and plan for the future of this young adult community. October 2nd marks our second gather-ing for The 9. Meet us out at the church property for our first annual mud bowl! Mud Bowl 2009 is sure to be an amazing time. Combining mud with flag football, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, and anything else we can combine with mud, it’s going to be great—in a weird way. Also, we will be having a huge bonfire, roasting hotdogs, eating food, and having a blast connecting with each other. The cost for this event is only $5. Contact Pastor Dan for details.

Personal Growth Resource for Third Quarter—Our Iceberg is Melting This fable is a simple one about doing well in an ever-changing world. It’s about a penguin colony in Antarctica. A group of beautiful emperor penguins live as they have for many years. Then one curious bird discovers a potentially devastating problem threatening their home—and pretty much no one listens to him. The characters in the story are like people we recognize . . . even ourselves. Our Iceberg is Melting is based on pioneering work that shows how Eight Steps produce needed change in any sort of group. It’s a story

that can be enjoyed by anyone while at the same time providing invaluable guidance for a world that just keeps moving faster and faster.

This book was chosen to strengthen the leadership team

and is available to everyone in the bookstore. We see change as a good thing and appreciate resources that help us build unity. Are you going through big changes in your family? Try reading it together!

Vespers Rocks the House Again! Wednesday, September 23rd was yet one more night where the roof was lifted off with extended praise and wide-open worship to a God who can’t be com-pared. We heard an original song written and sang by one of the band members! The Elevate program of interns served communion to almost 300 people who then celebrated with six individuals who rededicated themselves to the Lord through water baptism. The praise team polished the night off with the perfect song, “We Win!” Enough said. Devil, you lose!

Top: Jodi Cook gets re-baptized by Elder Mike Dobb. Botton: Donovan Clover outwardly expresses an inward transformation through baptism.

They were two of six people who made huge steps with God at Vespers, Wednesday, September 23.

If you would like to be baptized at the next opportunity, contact Lisa Mann at the church.

Adult Ministries & Leadership Development Encounter Wednesdays in October

At Encounter on Wednesday nights over the past few months, we have looked at our declarations, what true worship is, things that weaken our prayer life, who’s responsibility it is to take our relationship with God to a new level, and so much more. We’ve studied intercession (attaching to and carrying away a burden for someone else) and what our enemy looks like.

In the month of October, put your work boots on as we discover the ins and outs of fasting, the armor God gave us to fight with, and hanging out with the Holy Spirit. These are tools no Christian should be without. We have limited time left here on this earth to make an impact. Get your training on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. The Children’s Ministry is in full swing too, so bring the whole fam!

September 30: The fast that he

chooses. Fasting is a tool that God gave

me to strengthen His power in me.

Though fasting is never commanded, Jesus assumed the disciples would want to in order to see great things happen. It’s not something a Christian has to do, but can choose to do. This night will share different kinds of fasts, reasons for fasting and how you can find amazing freedom in doing so. Get empowered to do great things with God!

October 7: The Armor of God.

Fighting unseen forces with battle

armor God provides.

We’ve been spending the last few weeks studying the battle strategies, learning how the enemy works, finding out what our authority is, and how to prepare. This week we get into the supply room and learn how each piece of armor works, what it does, and how it fits. We will be covered from head to toe in God’s protection with the weapons He designed just for our use. Don’t go into battle with out them!

October 14: What does hanging out

with the Holy Spirit look like? Many people struggle with hearing God’s voice. Part of getting in sync with God is knowing who He is—intimately—and every aspect of Him. We’ll help you learn who the Holy Spirit is, what part He plays in the Godhead, and what His heart is for you.

October 21: If you’re life is not

changing, you’re not hanging out

with the Holy Spirit.

Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results is defined as insanity. So why do we keep trying to do things on our own? Cut to the chase and learn how to handle relationships in a new light with the Holy

Left: Kelly Fisher gives Ian Sifuentes a hug after an Encounter service while talking with Ian’s mom, Donna. Right: Julie Cisneros discusses the message with a friend. Encounter allows for hearing the word, discussing it together and asking questions of Pastor Ron.

Spirit as your guide. Grab hold of five key levels to relationships. How you operate in them, and if you’re hanging with the Holy Spirit, will determine if things change in your life. Get the keys tonight!

October 28: Righteousness is the valve

that turns the power on and off.

You just blew it. The boss is ticked off, the wife isn’t happy, now your friends won’t talk to you. Time to re-evaluate your attitude and mindset. That’s where right-eousness comes in. (I know what you’re thinking, “yeah, right.”) But let it go for a minute and you know deep down that you want to do things right. This message explains righteousness in terms you can work with. Get back on track, find out how to avoid mistakes in the future and please God like you know you want to.

Becoming a

House of Prayer It’s has intensely been on Pastor Ron’s heart to get more intentional in our prayers and to put a bigger emphasis on it.

Every week starting October 3 and 4, there will be corporate prayer in the sanctuary 15 minutes prior to each service. There will be directives on the screens along with various leaders leading us in prayer.

We’ve also designated different loca-tions throughout the building where teams huddle to pray and get up to speed for the service. You are welcome to join any group at any time! You’ll find groups in the kitchen, the classrooms, and the sanctuary.

Do you know someone who needs prayer? This is a perfect opportunity to bring them to church. They can get prayer and seek the Lord with us!

If you are looking for a moment of fellowship during that prayer time, the new Fellowship Room will be open. Formerly known as the conference room, this new room will reflect a cozy atmosphere where you can get to know others, bring your friends to make new friends, and enjoy a cup of coffee prior to service.

Through the Life Change Days (see article and photos on page 6), we started making improvements such as repainted walls, new lighting, furniture, and decor.

“. . . these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.

Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be

accepted on my altar;

for my house will be called

a house of prayer for all nations."

Isaiah 56:7 Tom Williams shares with Brian Wagenmaker after a Wednesday Encounter service.

We are bringing back the Fall Family Festival from a few years ago with renewed vigor and heart for the community. Providing an alternative to Halloween, this event will again draw thousands to our doors for an evening of games, memory building, connect-ing families, and reaching the lost for our amazing God. If you would like to volunteer, there are many areas to get involved. We are also accepting candy donations. The event will run from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Tell your friends and neighbors and make plans to make an impact through October Rush! Contact Jeff Snyder, Jordan Gunn, or Ashley Grant to get involved.

Generational Ministries Praying for Our Schools

School officially began September 7th in Michigan and already we are seeing a need for coverage in prayer. Life change will happen through prayer. We firmly believe that.

Pastor Ron met with area pastors recently to adopt schools in our area with a promise to pray for them. Thirteen area schools will be our focus including the students, the teachers, the coaches, principals, administration, and assistants.

What can you do? Call or email your local faculty and let them know you are lifting them up in prayer. Put yourself in their shoes for a day so to speak and you’ll know exactly what to pray for. To help guide you in your prayers and create unity and power in our prayers, here is a small list to get you started:

• Pray that wrong relationships are broken between students and that healthy ones flourish in the Lord.

• Ask the Lord to strengthen the students who love Him to be strong in their stance and not hold back on sharing how amazing He is.

• Pray that the teachers and faculty have Godly wisdom to work with the students and react in ways that promote caring and learning. Request on-the-spot wisdom in sudden situations that will glorify the Lord.

• Bind the enemy’s plans and that the heavenly realm will be empowered to fight. Pray that the enemy and his teams are confused and divided.

• Pray for safety on the busses, the sidewalks, classrooms, hallways, and playing fields.

A Day in Elevate We have approximately 10 interns who have joined the Elevate program to strengthen their skills in ministry. The internship begins at 6:00 am in the morning where the group comes together and spends approximately an hour exercising using structured workouts. The team arrives to the church at 8:00 am for 30-45 minutes of structured corporate prayer led by Diane Brennan each morning. At 8:45 am they go into devotional time that is either personal time they spend in the Word of God or they may be taking this time corporately to go through a series put out by John Bevere. At 9:15 am the team goes into a time of leadership development led currently by Pastor Dan where we are currently working through a great book called “The Leadership Challenge.” From leadership development they begin their Bible College which we are a extension campus of Victory Bible Institute of Tulsa which is a fully accredited Bible college. Note taking is required and checked daily. The interns go on lunch break at 11:15 am and begin their daily team/ministry projects that run from 12:00–4:00 pm.

During their team/ministry project time, interns learn to work together to prepare, plan, and execute ministry/events within the church setting. This time is very focused on learning how to start and complete various elements of ministry. Currently we have a team that is working on the planning of October Rush. We also have a team that is work-ing extensively within the children’s department on a three-phase development for 2010.

For more information about the Elevate internship program, contact Pastor Dan.
