Early Modern HistoryAt AS, you will compare the development of kingship and government in both Britain (Tudors) and Europe (France.) You will examine how Britain and France withstood the pressures arising from the Renaissance, Reformation and Counter Reformation.

The question of how the early modern monarch and state coped with new ideas and beliefs is explored further in Unit 4 when you will investigate the huge impact of religious change on Spain.

This is extended in A2 by looking at the ideas issues that shaped relations between the people and the state between the Mid-Tudor Crisis and the death of Elizabeth I.
