1 Superintendent’s “Everybody Teaches” Academy Overview and Implementation Plan

3 Who will participate? Every MEP and DCSAA non-school employee will be given the opportunity to participate. We are exploring the inclusion of other employee groups in this initiative, specifically FOP. Everybody Teaches Framework What will they do? Depending upon teaching certification, educational background, and/or participation preferences, employees will serve in one or more of the following roles: Classroom teachers to teach or co-teach an existing lesson plan Teachers who participate in Saturday’s “Success Academies” Visiting professors or guest speakers who intertwine an outside lesson into an existing curriculum Tutors and mentors who work with individual students or groups of students on focused areas of study Where will they work? Assignments will primarily be at Intervene or Correct II D & F Schools. How often will they work? Assignments will vary based upon the school’s needs and participant’s availability. Ideally, participants will engage in six unique assignments throughout the school year.

Implementation PlanTo ensure the success of ET, a step-by-step implementation is essential:

Assess the current non-school site administrative staff for teaching certification, educational background, and participation preferences. This assessment will be conducted in the context of an application to join the ET Faculty.

Conduct professional development to prepare ET Faculty members to succeed; this will include meetings/interviews with Principals to define expectations

Strategically deploy ET faculty on a schedule that (a) works best for the participating school while (b) maintaining a continuity of work product in the faculty member’s department

Classroom management techniques :• Creating a positive classroom environment• Being pro-active to minimize distractions

Strategies for increasing student engagement:• Planning with the End in Mind • Differentiating lesson delivery modes to accommodate a variety of learning styles

Co-teaching models and use of available resources:• Meeting with the cooperating teacher to review Pacing Guides and Learning Village Lesson Plans • Tips for successful teaming

Additionally, the Professional Development department will award Master Plan Points for “Everyone Teaches” Faculty.
