To understand how to effectively conserve a resource, you need to first understand how you are using it.
Big Picture Views • Look at annual trends in Water and Energy use and costs across an
organization• Look at monthly consumption trends (Irrigation vs. Non-irrigation
trends)
Look at meter data by type – costs & consumption• Water (Indoor, Mixed Use, Irrigation Only, Pool, Other, Sewer, Storm
water)
Compare resource use and costs for different buildings or spaces• Submeters allow use and costs of specific activities to become
evident• Identify greatest opportunities for conservation based on use and
