T1 This is heaviest braking zone on the track and one of the best places to overtake. We near 250kph in seventh gear; we brake at the 100-meter board and take the chicane at 60kph in second gear before going through Curva Grande.
T3 Another important braking area before a succession of fast corners. You want to avoid over-steer provoked by the low downforce. This explains why a lot of drivers like to compensate with a little under-steer that raises their confidence in the high-speed bends.
T4-5 Balance is very important when entering Lesmos. Due to the low downforce, the car is very light at the rear and there is very little room between the gravel and the tricky curbs at the exit.
T7-8 The Variante Ascari’s main challenge is to make a fast entry and take on the rest without having to ease off the throttle, which would slow you down on the back straight.
T9-10 The Parabolica is easier to get through since the exterior of the corner was paved, but car balance has to be right as the exit of the bend sets you up for the entire length of the pit straight. Depending on your position, you have to try to break or use the draft before the first chicane and you have to watch out for tyre degradation if you are in the middle of the pack.
