Environment Report: Planned / Unplanned Nodal Outages
• Planned Outages– Planned Outages
• 04/23/10 – 04/25/10 – ERCOT will be performing the initial release for Phase 5 on 4/23– Due to the size and complexity of the release, it will be necessary to take systems down
periodically throughout the outage period.– ERCOT will be running a series of test that Sunday which may result in notifications and / or
data in the Nodal Production systems that are associated with that test.
– Unplanned Outages• 04/20/10 08:00 A.M. – 04/21/2010 10:00 A.M.
– Links to the following resources were missing from MIS Portal during the reported period. Issue was attributable to a role synchronization problem between MIS and MPIM applications.
» Market Manager Application link» CRR Application Link» Certified Porlets associated with MMS and CRR applications (e.g. QSE Forecasts and
Load, Settlement statement and Invoice report etc)

Environment Report: Known Issues
• New Real-Time Known Issues– EWS to MIR
• For EWS report Market Info: DynamicRatings and LMPs_RTM, the EWS responses fail when the duration of DynamicRatings is set to 3 hours and the duration of LMPS_RTM is set to 12 hours (error "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset")
– EDW• Report name in MIR is incorrect for NP6-584-Security Violations and Binding Transmission Constraints
– Expected name: Security Violations and Binding Transmission Constraints“– Actual name: Security Violations Summary
– CDR• A "Reason_for_Removal" column is being added to NP5-649: Temporarily Removed Contingencies to track
operator-entered reasons justifying the temporary removal of contingencies– EDW
• The SCED_TIMESTAMP and CA_EXE_TIME formats do not match the technical specification for the report NP6-584-Security Violations and Binding Transmission Constraints
– Specified format: MM/DD/YYYY HH:MIN:SS AM\PM– Actual format: Mar 24, 2010 3:30:36
http://nodal.ercot.com 7
Environment Report: Known Issues
• New Real-Time Known Issues (continued)– EMS
• Text descriptions for EMS system-generated notices are being updated in the EIP External Interfaces Specification
– The text description in EMS notices do not always match the text descriptions provided in the EIP External Interfaces Specification (Section 5.3.1.2, EMS System-Generated Notices)
– The text descriptions in the EIP External Interfaces Specification are being updated to match the EMS system-generated notices and will be provided in a future publication
– The EMS “-RETURN” notice will also be included in the updates

Environment Report: Known Issues
• Closed Real-Time Known Issues– MMS MI EVNT
• OPERATING_HOUR_CLOSE and ADJ_WINDOW_CLOSE events are several minutes late
– The messages stating that the Operating Hour has closed and the Adjustment Period has closed are not being sent at the top of the hour, but are often coming out a minute or two late. This also means that submission deadlines are enforced a minute or two late.
– MMS• EMS data is causing a large number of DAM-DSRLDTEL-NOTF messages
– Under certain conditions, DAM-DSRLDTEL-NOTF messages stating that DSR telemetry has been lost for more than 15 minutes are currently being sent to all QSEs whether or not they have DSR telemetry configured. This message should only be sent to QSEs that have DSR telemetry configured and the signal has dropped.
– MMS SCED• Managing Minos (SCED Optimization Engine) errors
– Closed defect discovered March 10 where SCED Step Two failed and Base Points/LMPs were distributed based on SCED Step One results.
http://nodal.ercot.com 9
Environment Report: Known Issues
• Closed Real-Time Known Issues (continued)– MMS UI
• Cancelling for hour 3 on DST short day does not work– "When using the UI, if an attempt is made to cancel with hour 3 selected for either Start Hour or End
Hour, the request fails and yields an error message, ""Invalid Start (End) Hour 3 due to Daylight Savings Transition."“
– MMS MM• MMS MM assumes first role retrieved through MPIM
– When more than one MMS role is assigned to a user, the MMS UI is assigning just one role which may or may not be the appropriate one. Certs should only have one MMS role assigned. The defect fix will pick the most restrictive role if more than one is encountered.
– MMS MM• The MMS UI does does not highlight the correct error area on client-side validation for Create/Update TPO
– "Highlighting Error 1:If any value except EOC Price is left empty on a TPO submission, then upon submitting/updating that TPO the UI states to correct the entries highlighted in orange--but only ""Hot Start-Up"" is highlighted. This highlighting is only correct when the Hot Start-Up is left empty.Highlighting Error 2:If EOC Price is left empty, nothing happens after pressing the update button. The EOC price should be highlighted and the ""correct the entries"" message should be displayed."

Standing Reports and Updates: General Reminders / Updates
• There are four Unit Parameters that are part of the ERCOT’s AGC system that will significantly affect ERCOT’s deployments and protocol reporting
– Unit Offline Limit (%)• This is a percent of Unit Max Capability below which the unit is designated
OFFLINE– Unit Online Deadband (%)
• This is the dead band that is used to determine if a unit which was previously Offline, became online. The unit MW should be more than the Unit Offline Limit(1 + Unit Online DB % /100) to be considered online
– Frequency Deviation Deadband (HZ) and Frequency Bias• These values are used to calculate Average Estimated Governor Response
• It is important that these values be provided by Resource Entities– The frequency deviation deadband and frequency bias must be provided to ERCOT
by the Resource Entity per Nodal Protocol 8.1.1.4.1(2)• ERCOT will begin working with Market Participants to collect these parameters for use in
ERCOT systems• This topic will be scheduled for discussion at the May 4 NATF meeting

– EWS: https://misapi.ercot.com/2007-08/Nodal/eEDS/EWS
• Reminder: Market Trials email address change: ERCOT asks that MPs use the [email protected] email address for questions from this point forward– This will begin the phasing out of [email protected], [email protected] and
[email protected] email addresses.– A centralized address will no longer require MPs to “guess” which email
address to use for their questions– We have implemented a more effective method of routing and responding to
emails using this address– The old eds emails can continue to be used until 2009 hold over efforts are
completed (such as telemetry outreach)
