tional charges the Lodge that amount so we have to pass it on to the member.

Please join me in bidding Jim Berardi, Territorial Manager, farewell and welcoming Mike Rios as our new

Territorial Manager effective June 1, 2015. Jim along with Carol Walston dug into the office files, finances,

taxes and brought the our Lodge back into compliance with Moose International and current with the

VMA. This was a daunting task that took them a year. The Lodge’s financial strength has never been

stronger thanks to the dedication of our Board of Officers who have executed their duties to the highest

degree IAW the General Laws. We look to pay off the $60K plus loan and upgrade the Kitchen this year. Thank you to all the Volunteers that assisted with this years Memorial Day Picnic in the park. Our Lodge

is only as strong as our Volunteers. If you would like to get involved, just show up at an event and give an

hour or two of your time. Regardless if you are an active member or just a social member, I would like to

personally thank you for supporting the Hopewell Moose Lodge and making us “NUMBER ONE” in the

VMA.

Administrator's Message

The International Convention is upon us again. Time sure does fly by! This

year the convention will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, July 2nd to the 8th. I

know that we have several members attending this year. It is great to know

how much support 1472 Moose Family Center has. I would like everyone to

know that our Virginia State Annual Convention will be in Roanoke, Vir-

ginia , August 20th to the 22nd. Please make plans to attend and learn what

your state has achieved this past year. Finally, thanks to all our volunteers…

we couldn’t do it without you!

Gary Bartholomew, Administrator

Anna Belle Bishop Age: 4 years old

I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis, which is a non-

curable disease. My Great-Gramma, Loretta

Perry, is working to raise money to help cover

the costs of my rising medical bills. I have

spent much of my short life in hospitals and

Mommy and Daddy really need some help covering the ex-

penses. Great-Gramma has arranged a fund-raising

event for Saturday, August 1st, at the Hopewell Moose

#1472 from 8 to 11pm. A Benefit Dance with music by

Darrell Johnson. No admission charge; but we will accept

donations. Come out for any evening of dancing and fun!!

Senior regent’S MeSSage

Now that summer is here and vacations, beaches and barbeques are fill-ing up our calendar, I would just like to thank everyone for all the volun-teer help that you gave during the month of June. The senior lunches, nursing home birthday parties, the Massey Cancer Spaghetti Dinner Benefit, the Father’s Day Brunch, and the special “Taco Night” fundraiser for little Anna Belle. Your committed efforts are what makes these events successful. Your time is valuable, and we appreciate the time and energy that you all have voluntarily gave in support of our seniors, children, members, and those in need. Just recently, I attended my very first Officer’s Training Class, and will be traveling to Nashville to the International Conference very shortly. I am excited and look forward to learn new ideas that will be available to me, and to the Women of the Moose. Thank you for allowing me the opportu-nity to participate in the 2015 International Conference in Opryland. This will not only be my first International Conference, but my first trip to Nashville as well! In Faith, Hope & Charity, ~ D.M. Ozmore ~

see, and Summer Celebration being held Jul 24-26, in Tappahannock. Remember to get your tickets for the Shrimp Fest!

SENIOR FISHING TRIP There has been a location and boat

change this year. This years trip has

moved to Hampton Roads Charter on

the “OCEAN EAGLE”. This boat is actu-

ally larger than the “Tortuga” so it will

hold more people. Because there will be plenty of room, names are

NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR MEMBERS AND FAMILY who are

not yet seniors. These non-seniors will just have to pay a cost of $40 per person for the

trip. The date remains August 29th with the boat loading at 11:30am and fishing from

12:30 til 5:30pm This has been a successful, enjoyable event for Moose seniors for many

years now and we hope this year will be no exception. Lunch, drinks and beer will be

served on the boat courtesy of the Hopewell Moose Lodge 1472. You may bring your fa-

vorite rod if you like or the boat will furnish rods, reels and bait. If you bring a cooler for

fish, please leave it in your vehicle until the boat returns. The sign-up sheet will be avail-

able in the office as of June1st. Stop by or call 804.458.1755 to

have your name added anytime after then. http://

For July we have a special activity to be enjoyed by children of all ages. In lieu of Movie Night, we are having a special presenta-

tion. It will be story time (parents you may remember story time). We will have a great story by a local author, Cliff Davis

who will be reading "A Chookamook Came Over for Breakfast". This story has received rave reviews by children

and adults alike. This will be a wonderful opportunity to show our children what life was like when we use our imaginations,

instead of movies, video games and electronics. Please encourage your child to enjoy this special event and feel free to join in

with your child. For those children who need a break from their parents, we will have a DJ for the big people in the Social

Quarters.

These are comments by those who have read this wonderful short story...

Cliff Davis has captured all the elements of a marvelous fantasy for young readers. This tale has a hero and dark wizard

that actually work problems out. — Roberta Minetree

How many of us have thought about mystery, magic, and intrigue and what it would be

like to shrink down into another realm of reality? — Jeannie Myers

I felt myself being transported somewhere between Alice’s looking glass and Willy

Wonka’s factory. This book is so imaginative with the most delightful characters. — Patricia Rosvall

It is with much regret that due to my scheduling conflicts, this will be the last Kids

Movie/Activity Night until further notice. I have enjoyed offering these activities for the

children and I believe many have enjoyed it as well. If any of you would be interested in assisting

with continuing Kids Movie Night, I would be pleased to assist. If there were a few volunteers,

we could even rotate and keep it going. If you are interested, please call the Lodge office and

leave a message with your name and number and I will get back to you. In advance, I thank you

for your consideration on behalf of the children.

Sincerely,

Brian Carpenter
