MicroStation CADD Standards and Procedures1.0 Scope

The purpose and intent of this CADD Manual is to document and organize the multi-

discipline CADD standards and procedures to be utilized by all personnel involved with

the production of CADD drawings for the FBP OSDC Project.

    2.0 General Setup and Configuration

2.1 Coordinate SystemThe coordinate system to be used for all OSDC related designshall be Ohio StatePlane South, based on North American Datum 1983 (NAD83).

2.2 UnitsAll CADD Design will be done using English measurements and the U.S. Survey Foot.

    2.3 Design Software

Bentley Microstation is the primary design tool for the OSDC project. Theintent is that all drawings are produced with Microstation and the inRoads

suite. AutoCAD may be used for certain pre-existing plant-specific modification projects or as needed.

The table below shows the software available for use on the OSDC project.

MicroStation CADD Standards and Procedures2.5 MicroStation Configuration

FBP has a virtual server based MicroStation configuration designed for reliability

    and ease of maintenance.

A network server pools FBP licenses. All MicroStation resource files and data relating to CADD production reside under

the root directory T:\F000_ER\F6000 ER On-Site Disposal Cell\F6200

CADD\MS-STD\Workspace\Std except the license server files. Table 1 lists thedirectory structure for FBPs CADD environment.

2.6 Configuration VariablesThere are several custom configuration variables included in FBPs CADDenvironment. These variables are directory path shortcuts. They are designed

to facilitate access to resource maps, standard cell libraries, seed files.

    3.0 Drawing Standards

    3.1 Drawing Sizes

Arch E1 (30 X 42) Primary border for design and construction drawings.

ANSI B - (11 X 17) Alternate reduced size border for special circumstances.

ANSI A - (8.5 X 11) Letter size border for exhibits and stand alone details.

    3.2 Drawing Borders

All drawings created for design or construction shall be done utilizing OSDC standard

    drawing borders

    3.2.1 Standard Border Files

    FBP-E1-LANDSCAPE.DGN (Arch E1, 30 X 42)

    FBP-B-LANDSCAPE.DGN (ANSI B 11 X 17)

    FBP-A-PORTRAIT.DGN (ANSI A 8.5 X 11)

3.2.2 Insertion of Border Into A drawing

Borders are to be inserted into drawings by referencing the desired standard border

file and copying the text from the various fields into the drawing for modification.

When the desired text, scaling and layout are finalized, the standard border filereference may be merged to master, thereby making the border a part of the file.

3.2.3 Filling Out The Title Block Section Of A Border

The numbered items below are instructions on how to use the variouscomponents in the title block. The numbers coincide with Figure 1.

    (e.g.) Rev A, Rev B, Rev C,

3.4.2 Certified For Construction (CFC) Drawings

All official drawings which are released for the purpose of construction at the project siteshall have a Numeric Revision Number, beginning with the number(0) zero, assigned as

    part of the drawing name.

    (e.g.) Rev 0, Rev 1, Rev 2,

These revisions will change sequentially as necessary if revised Design Changes arerequired to adjust previously approved drawings. All of these revisions will be noted in thedrawing title block and in the drawing revision description blocks. These drawings will also

have a Certified for Construction stamp located in the lower right hand corner above thetitle block.

3.4.3 Revising between CFC and Non-CFC versions of the same drawing

In the case that a CFC drawing needs revised and the revision is not meant to return toCFC until review and a following revision an alphanumeric system as follows shall be

    used.

(e.g.) Rev 2 (CFC) is revised for sending to agencies for approval. It becomes Rev

2A, then 2B, etc. until the drawing is meant to become CFC again. At suchtime it becomes Rev 3.

    3.4.4 General Revision Procedures

*All CFC drawings will only be issued through the Records, Management andDocument Control processing service.

*Each revised area or change item on a drawing after Rev 0 is indicated with a revisioncloud and a revision triangle as general practice unless it is deemed for special purposes

that the drawing is clearer without the revision clouds and triangles. Place clouds and

revision triangles on separate levels (G-ANNO-REVC and G-ANNO-REVS, respectively.)

*For overflow revisions that exceed the allocated revision spaces - erase the bottom

revision and move all revisions down to allow for the latest revision at the top.

    4.1.1 Master Files

A Master file may be utilized if desired to contain thebulk of the actual design

information for one or more drawings. Master files are created with 3-dimensional

seed files even if the elements within the files are meant to be viewed as 2-

dimensional. Master files should not contain scale-specific graphics (i.e.: northarrows, graphic scales, sheet titles or labels).

Each Master file typically contains information associated with only one discipline(ie.: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) This separation of information must bemaintained even when producing multi-disciplined drawings.

Master files are always drawn Full Size, that is, one inch equals one inch and onefoot equals one foot.

    * Usually there is no General Master for processes

4.1.2 Sheet FilesSheet Files contain everything needed to be plotted as an actual drawing product. They are a combination of referenced master files (when applicable), design

graphics, border, drawing annotation/text, north arrow, and graphic scale, etc.

Sheet Files are created with the same seed files as Master Files.

For each sheet file, a single border file is attached as a reference file via the saved

view function and then scaled to the desired plot scale. See Table 3 for typicalscale factors. In each case, design data is drawn full-size, and the plotting scale isestablished by scaling the border sheet reference file.

    4.1.3 Border Files

Section 3.2.1 lists the seed border files. The level assignments and content of

border file graphics are established per OSDC standards and are not be changed

    without prior authorization.

    Engineers stamps

Engineer stamps are placed within the border and assigned levels by

discipline. Border file level assignments are shown in Table 8.

    4.1.4 Reference Files

Reference files are anything from topographic maps, survey files and other

background maps, to data points such as boring locations in a coordinate system,

etc. The graphic elements in reference files are placed in their proper geographic

position within the Ohio State Plane South Coordinate system. They are usually 3D

models with the elements placed at the correct geographic elevations except for

annotations and grid lines. Annotation is accepted in Reference Files such as contourelevations and surface object identification if necessary. See Table 8 for pertinent

    levels & information.

    4.2 Level Conventions

Level naming convention is dictated by this manual and shall be used for all OSDC

work, whether the work is produced in-house or by an outside contractor or

consultant. Additional levels may be created as the need arises. Any additional

levels should follow the convention set forth in Table 8 which describes the list of

    levels and their associated symbology.

    4.3 Pen Tables

FBP OSDC uses Projectwise InterPlot software for plotting in Microstation. PW IPLOT

supports the use of design scripts to establish certain plotting characteristics and

capabilities. There are two custom design scripts one each for full-size and half-

size plotting in monochrome (black/white). There are two custom design scripts for

color plotting. The four standard design scripts are:

    FBP FULL.PEN Full-size black/white plotting

FBP HALF.PEN Half-size black/white plottingFBP FULL COLOR.PEN Full Size color plotting

FBP FULL COLOR RASTER Color plotting over raster images

4.4 Line weights Each of the 32 line weights available within MicroStation are

explicitly defined in terms of line width. The full-size Design

Scripts match line widths to equivalent technical pen sizes.Half-size Design Scripts reduce these line widths by 50%.

4.5 Line Styles The seven basic line styles available within MicroStation (linestyles 1 through 7) are customized for FBPs needs. Theplotted line styles vary slightly from the styles displayed on-

screen. Half-size line styles are 50% reductions of the full-

    size.

    4.6 Half-tone

    linework

Any Reference File with a cont Logical Name Prefix will be

screened when plotted to create a half-tone effect. This is

useful for de-emphasizing certain parts of a drawing, forexample when differentiating between existing and proposed

items. Also, the color 120 may be used to achieve screeningas well but is a secondary option.

4.7 Plot Stamp A special character string in FBP border which are replaced at

the time of plotting with file name (including path), three-

letter user designator, plot time, and pen table applied to theplotted design file.

Note: Sketches and presentation drawings that are not to become official

project drawings may use other fonts and font sizes as necessary.

    4.10 North Arrow

The north arrow is required for all plans with its location at the upper right

corner of the drawing and is also part of the key plan.

The cell name is NORTHA. See below for correct image (not to scale).

    4.11 Key Plan

A key plan may be used to better identify a design elements location. It willbe located on the drawing in a relevant location to help clarify the graphics.

    6.0 Plotting

FBP uses Bentley Systems ProjectWise InterPlot and Interplot Organizer

applications as the primary MicroStation plotting interface. Plot files are

submitted through the ProjectWise enterprise network to print queues dedicated to

CADD production. Batch plotting is done with Bentley Systems ProjectWise

    InterPlot Organizer software.

Plot queue settings files have file names matching thequeue name. Other

settings files used in conjunction with the plot queue setting files are:

    Settings files PW_IPLOT_FBP_11x17-REDUCED.set and PW_IPLOT_FBP_30x42-

Full.set do not require a fence and will exclude the cut line from the printed plot

when plotted via Iplot and used in conjunction with FBPs latest standard border file.
