Service Asset & Configuration Management The Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) at SAP Solution Manager enables the IT management to exercise control of IT items and assets. Up-to-date and verified information of configuration items (CIs) are important for all SAP Solution Manager IT Service Management (ITSM) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes. One central part of this EGI includes the SAP IT Infrastructure Management which is a solution for acquiring and administrating all IT components (especially Non-SAP CIs) in an infrastructure including PCs, printers, servers, routers etc. Considerable advantages of this management solution include the collection of the infrastructure data of all components within an IT landscape (auto discovery and network topology) and being able to perform comprehensive monitoring. The data are stored in a so-called Configuration Management Database (CMDB) which provides the basis for IT Service Management in accordance with the ITIL. The integrated CMDB allows seamless and transparent infrastructure visibility in SAP and non-SAP environments. Complete system and device information on the relevant IT is furnished and correlated for incident and change management as well as for monitoring and alerting. This EGI presents the opportunities to structure and collect the configuration items with different data sources provided by the SAP Solution Manager, SAP IT Infrastructure Management and SAP ERP Asset Management.
