Creation of ES Local Section in Russia

• ES Regional Section in Russia (Central office, St. Petersburg) was founded in Russia in 2003 by the decision of the ES Governing Board on the base of St. Petersburg branch of ESWGTT, which was inaugurated on December 1998

• Dr. Nelly Didenko (SPb SC RAS) was appointed as the official representative (Coordinator) of this Section. There are already about 100 members of the Section in Russia.

European Science Technology Transfer Women in Science Young Scientists Science Policy

• Meeting with Professor J.-P. Connerade, President of Euroscience, with the purpose of organization Es Local Section in Russia. On the right Prof. A. Timkovsky, executive director of SPASS

Our Goals

The main goal of our section is to assist in promotion of Russian scientists participation in European Scientific and Technological Space.

The main objectives of our group are:

• to assist the development of Russian and European science and Technology and use their achievements in practical activities

• to promote cooperation as a step towards integration into the European science

• to increase the role of science and status of Russian scientists in the European economic space

Chapter I. The  new scene of interstate relations, globalization and role of regions with the sessions:

• Conflicts of civilizations as new types of conflicts of the XXI century

• Social tensions in a context of globalization and of enhanced role of regions.

Chapter II. Actions in the scientific community to study and to help resolve conflicts with the sessions:

• New methods for interdisciplinary studying, understanding and solving conflicts

• Tackling cultural misunderstandings by creating linkage and co-operation

• Role of scientists, scientific and international NGOs in preventing and mitigating tensions 

• Investigating and resolving conflicts inside and around science

About 140 participants, among them 32 speakers from 11 countries took part in the Workshop.
