Presentation of the flounderThe flounder is a metal-sculpture made by Nils Aas. It is placed in Muustrøparken at Inderøy. Besides it`s visual expression it will also have an aural interaction between audience and physical parameters provided by the environment in which it stands. The sculpture as a whole will be finished in may 2006.

The work was already started through a dialog with Nils Aas in 2003, and is placed at its destination showed in the picture. The sound installation will express itself by excite the metal of the sculpture to provide sound. The music from the sculpture will go through continuously changing, by getting input from time of year, temperature changes, and changes in light, and also by how many people there are present, and how close they are to the statue. The sound installation will be present for a ten year period before it will be removed, and the statue will take its original form.

Functionality:
The flounder will provide sound but also record itself and store it by time and date. In that way it will be possible to go back to a specific time during this decade to find out what was happening then. The music will be provided by Øyvind Brandsægg`s improsculpt. (Live sampler) and will do all the processing real-time through the internet. There will also be a webpage that can be visited during this time period.

Techniques:
As earlier mentioned the improsculpt will receive parameters and recordings from different surroundings in the statues environment, this in order to provide the aesthetics of the sound and how it proceeds during time.
