In conjunction with the Earle Hagen Memorial Golf and Tennis Tournament, we will be holding a Silent Auction sponsored by Public Counsel. The Silent Auction will take place just after the golf and tennis tournaments. After a day on the links or courts, you can relax with a glass of wine or a cocktail as you peruse an array of fine wines, one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia, film and television memorabilia, the latest electronic gadgets, island getaways, amusement park and museum passes, books, jewelry and more. Browsing at the Silent Auction is a great way to cool down after a fun day of golf or tennis, but you can stay in the competitive mood and try to outbid your colleagues, all for the benefit of those in dire need of free legal services!
One hundred percent of the net proceeds of the Silent Auction will go to Public Counsel, the largest pro bono law firm in the nation. Public Counsel uses these funds to provide free legal services to those in need, including pro se debtors, families facing foreclosure, homeless veterans, refugees fleeing torture and death threats, disabled, abandoned and abused children, and victims of domestic violence.

This tournament honors Earle Hagen and his legacy of service to the bankruptcy community in the Central District of California. A respected fixture of the bankruptcy bar for over 40 years, Earle maintained an active practice while also serving the larger community. He was not only one of the founders of the Bankruptcy Study Group, which later became the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, but he also always had time to mentor younger attorneys. This tournament, which benefits those who are most in need, is very much in the spirit of Earle’s life and work.
