Chinese web accessibility standard content
• The content of Chinese web accessibility standard includes
four parts about how to make the web page perceivable,
operable, understandable and compatible.
• In each part of the standard, detailed rules are given and each
rule are composed of three levels of requirements, lower level
requirements are easier to be satisfied than higher level ones.

The first part gives suggestions about how to make the web page
perceivable to all people:
– Provide text alternatives for all non-text content
– Provide synchronized alternatives for multimedia
– Ensure that information and structure can be separated from
presentation
– Make it easy to distinguish foreground information from its
background

The second part gives suggestions about how to make the web page operable for all people:
– Make all functionality operable via a keyboard interface
– Allow users to control time limits on their reading or interaction
– Allow users to avoid content that could cause seizures
– Provide mechanisms to help users find content, orient themselves within it, and navigate through it
– Help users avoid mistakes and make it easy to correct mistakes that do occur

Chinese Web Accessibility Standard Application
• In 2008, Olympic Games and Paralympics Games were held
in Beijing, these games drew attention of the world and lots
of news would be issued in web sites.
• In order to help people with disabilities browse internet,
CDPF,ISC and CCSA initiated a web accessibility action,
and use YD1761-2008 standard as a guideline standard.

Standard Application in Beijing
• Several main government web sites and portal web site join this action,
built an accessible Olympic and Paralympics subject channel for people
with disabilities according to standard YD 1761-2008 ,
• The web sites include Beijing Olympic Official Web site, China Portal
Web site, CCTV, Xinhua, China Youth , sina, baidu, 21CN web site etc.
