Introduced a 2nd and 3rd type of data graph: Scatter Plot Diagram and Line graph. Already introduced the Pie Chart in Excel Today’s lab exercise will introduce you to the bar graph chart

for plotting data.

Books were assigned. Bring your books to each class. I am discussing in-class storage with administration but for now store

in lockers, etc. Take care of books in accordance with UME policy. The books are

UME property and books cost about $160 retail. Do not mark in them. Use your note books to make notes, etc.

Fixed vs variable value

Variable value is a result of a formula ( value can change as for example the term y=f(x) ; as x changes the value of y can change. Fixed value does not change. It is a static value in the program or data field.

left to right , parenthesis over all else and inside first then working towards outside , using operator hierarchy - %, exponents, then * and / are both at same level, and + and - are at the same levels along the way to evaluating the complete formula.

Exercise 22.1 –

Learning Objects:

These series of exercise emphasize several common elements of data manipulation and charting features Excel

• Exercise 1 and 2 illustrate the usage of data vs information presentation by charting only a useful subset of data to graph in the chart. • Exercise 2 is used to show the top 3 contributors in the chart. The table has all the data but • Management and leaders what to concentrate on what are the key drivers that are necessary in order to make a decision. .

• Your are the expert and professional – Don’t be afraid to use draw the line on what is just data vs. what is information. Manager and leaders value information.

1. Review concepts in Lab 1 as needed to refresh your skills – Concept Summary pg EX1.78 - Creating and Editing Worksheets Data Headers and Row headers/ data entry into cells

Formulas and other key terms used in Excel for worksheet elements.

2. Read and practice – Inserting and Deleting Rows and Column beginning on page EX1.48 thru EX1.50

3. Actually do the Step by Step Hands On exercise.

Your have to manually input the data as shown in the book.

Instead of printing ( Ignore print instructions! ) . Save you data to H drive with project name or id

EX1.88 – Teenage Cell Phone Usage Data Analysis Start with Entering data as in EX1.89 and make It look like EX1.88 and graph data

using bar charts as in page EX1.88. Final results look like EX1.88. EX1.90 – Animal Rescue Foundation Adoption Analysis
