range or cell range two or more cells either adjacent or non adjacent
colon : vs comma , used syntax for adjacent vs non adjacent cell range
clipboard sytem clipboard (temp register of image or data) (Ctrl +C)
Call outs (shapes draw program)Autoshape - Used to visibly annotate text info to the worksheet with drawing images and objects
Insert Comments (RT mouse click)command - Used add text to annotate a specific cell - anontate text info to the worksheet
Draginstruction typically meaning selecting start pt,hold down rt mouse button and drag to end pt and release ( selecting or defining an area for a subsequent action or command.

Insert Rows and Columns
command under insert to add a colum or row to the table above or to the left of the selected column or row
Insert copied row or column
Recommend to use to insert an entire row or column. Not with cell since this may result in data integrity issues ( a row of data is normally related and one set of data).
Cut (Ctrl X) & paste command for cell or a cell range or an entire worksheet
undo commandbacks out certain commands (moves/cut/paste)
data entry vs. formulas (calculated values)the " = " sign is the tell tale give away; Excel assumes the field info is data type unless = is used and then it evaluates the = and syntax of the formula or statement

Fixed vs variable value
Variable value is a result of a formula ( value can change as for example the term y=f(x) ; as x changes the value of y can change. Fixed value does not change. It is a static value in the program or data field.
order of precedence
left to right , parenthesis over all else and inside first then working towards outside , using operator hierarchy - %, exponents, then * and / are both at same level, and + and - are at the same levels along the way to evaluating the complete formula.
operators used in excel% , e (1.5^2 ), * (multiply) , / (division), + and -
command syntax for cell selection
“ : “ colon symbol is used for as part of the command syntax to select or designate
contiguous cells and “ , “ commas used for noncontiguous cell selection
operands the values or cells which a numeric formula performs a calculation

Exercise 22.1 –
Learning Objects:
These series of exercise emphasize several common elements of data manipulation and charting features Excel
• Exercise 1 and 2 illustrate the usage of data vs information presentation by charting only a useful subset of data to graph in the chart. • Exercise 2 is used to show the top 3 contributors in the chart. The table has all the data but • Management and leaders what to concentrate on what are the key drivers that are necessary in order to make a decision. .
• Your are the expert and professional – Don’t be afraid to use draw the line on what is just data vs. what is information. Manager and leaders value information.
• Exercise 3 is more color coding cells and formatting for a professional and finished appearance for example a client or customer report.
