Merry Christmas; and a Blessed, Healthy Happy New Year. May the
Peace and Joy of the newborn Christ Child be with all of us.
Grand Knight’s Column:
GK Michael Harrigan
Brothers:
I sit down on this American Thanksgiving pon-dering what to write. In the spirit of thanksgiving I would like to say that I am thankful for Bro. Roy and his fish fry team for their hard work that has resulted in such wonderful dinners. Our last fish fry was dedicated to our Coats for Kids pro-gram and raised enough money to pay for all the coats we donated this year. I would also like to thank Bro. Roy, Bro. Ray and his wife Linda for their handling of the Coats for Kids Program. This year we donated two boxes of coats to Im-maculate Conception school. We delivered the coats to-day and the principal and staff were truly grateful. It was a great experience to see the boys and girls get their coats and to see the joy on their faces. A special thanks to Ray and Linda for donating the toques that we gave out with the coats. Of course I am extremely grateful for my loving wife Gail who has stood by me through thick and thin. Now looking ahead to the next big season, that of the most holy Christmas time. I hope we will all remem-ber the reason for the season and keep Christ in Christ-mas. Christmas is a time for celebrating so many things: God’s gift of his only son for our salvation; family and fraternity. To help us with these KADEC is once again sponsoring our Christmas party December 12th at the Other Place, 1395 Walker Rd. Doors open at 6 pm. and dinner at 6:30. I am looking forward to seeing as many of my brother knights and their spouses as can make it. To see pictures from the kids with their new coats and to keep abreast of the happenings with Council 1453 visit our new website at http://www.kofcwindsor1453.com/. Thank you Bro Ray for such a great job setting it up.

Gail & my sincere wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our members and their families.

Editors Note: The GK heard back from D.D. he does not have ar-ticle for this issue. His wife had complications after her surgery and he has been busy with her. Mike ,GK So sorry to hear that, she will be added to our prayer list, and we wish both of them a better holiday sea-son. God help you, and a Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Burns, editor pgk
Greetings Brothers:
May I begin this message by expressing my total and complete disappointment with our Memorial Mass. First, with my inability to attend due to illness, but also with the lack of membership as well. If it was not for our GK and his wife and our FS and his wife, and Guard Bill Major we would have had no one there. Thanks to Mike and Ray and their good ladies, and Bill, we were represented. Apparently the whole District re-neged on their commitment . How sad to know how the members of an order built on fraternal support and fam-ily values so easily forget their deceased.
Enough of that bitching, now for some hopefully brighter thoughts.
I am preparing for our annual CHRISTmas gifting to our hospitalized, home bound and ill members. So far we have a few, on the list. If anyone thinks someone should be added let me know. Sometime before Dec. 15, I will purchase the plants required, I would appreci-ate some help delivering them, please call me.
Last month I took in a webinar on membership recruit-ment and retention, and came back with some new ide-as and support. If any of the executive want, I will share the information with you. I WANT TO WORK IT TOO.
Lin and I wish all of our members, families and friends a Very Holy and Merry Christmas, and a Happy
Healthy New Year. May 2019 bring you joy, peace and Love.
God Bless, Vivat Jesus
Bob

You Can Make It “A Wonderful Life”
Unlike the character ‘George Bailey’ in the famous holiday movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”,
none of us will have the opportunity of seeing our lives played out as though we had
never been born. However, like George Bailey, we cannot underestimate the powerful
impact we have in the lives of our families, friends and the community.
Our impact will be felt by others through our membership in the Knights of Columbus -
by volunteering as we are able - AND by making sure we have enough life insurance to
meet the needs of our loved ones.
Life insurance allows our families to remain in their homes and maintain their lifestyles.
It guarantees a college education for our children, and perhaps our grandchildren. It en-
sures for us a comfortable retirement. It can even help our favourite charities continue
their humanitarian work.
This holiday season consider becoming an insured member of the Knights of Columbus.
Give your family the gift of life insurance, and make it a “wonderful life” for those you
love.
A Blessed Christmas Season to you and your family.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
The 12 Days of Christmas" is in a sense an allegory. Each of the items in the song represents some-
thing significant to the teachings of the Catholic faith. The hidden meaning of each gift was designed to
help Catholic children learn their faith. The song goes, "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave
to me…" The "true love" mentioned in the song refers to God Himself. The "me" who receives the pre-
sents refers to every baptized person. i.e. the Church.
1st Day: The partridge in a pear tree is Christ Jesus upon the Cross.
2nd Day: The "two turtle doves" refers to the Old and New Testaments.
3rd Day: The "three French hens" stand for faith, hope and love.
4th Day: The "four calling birds" refers to the four evangelists who wrote the
Gospels-Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
5th Day: The "five golden rings" represents the first five books of the Bible, also called the Jewish Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
6th Day: The "six geese a-laying" is the six days of creation.
7th Day: The "seven swans a-swimming" refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, under-standing, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.
8th Day: The "eight maids a milking " reminded children of the eight beatitudes listed in the Sermon on the Mount.
9th Day: The "nine ladies dancing" were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
10th Day: The "ten lords a-leaping" represents the Ten Commandments.
11th Day: The "eleven pipers piping" refers to the eleven faithful apostles.
12th Day: The 'twelve drummers drumming" were the twelve points of belief expressed in the Apostles' Creed: belief in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, made man, crucified, died and arose on the third day, that he sits at the right hand of the father and will come again, the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.
