1. Power over Ethernet (PoE) Switches
2. Connection to IP Cameras
IP Cameras over fibre IP Cameras over legacy Co-ax PoE Injector
3. Connection to Wireless IP Cameras
Outdoor wireless router
4. Connecting it all together (with security)
Advanced Layer 3 (Core) Switches
Allied Telesis products that can help Anixter Security Team
2Power over Ethernet (PoE) CamerasIP Cameras require Power and IP connectivity,PoE Switches both provide power and connectivity down one cable
Different IP Cameras need different amounts of power:
Axis P1344 - Class 2 (6.3 Watt x 24 = 151 Watt)(1280 x 800 1MP HDTV 720p)
Axis P1344E - Class 3 (15.4 Watt x 24 = 370 Watt)
(Outdoor housing with small heater)
Axis M3203 Fixed Dome - Class 2 (6.3 Watt x 24 = 151 Watt)(800 x 600)
Axis Q6032-E Pan Tilt Zoom - High Power PoE+ (Up to 30 Watt ea)
Different PoE switches provide different facilities and different total Power
Total PoE power of Switch must exceed total PoE consumption of cameras!
3Power and wired connectivity Switches for Fixed IP Cameras
AT-FS750/24POE – 24 ports 10/100 100W PoE total12 ports PoEWebSmart (simple configuration from a browser)ECO Switch - Low power consumption, low or no fan noise 2 Combo uplinks - (1Gb copper or up to 2Km fibre)
AT-8000S/24POE - 24 ports 10/100 185 Watt PoE total24 ports Class 2 PoE (6.5Watt) or 12 Class 3 PoE (13W) Full Managed Layer 2 (has resilient & secure features)Can secure the switch, it only talks to known devices2 Combo uplinks – (1Gb copper or up to 2Km fibre)
12 PoE Ports
4Power and connectivity for PZT / Outdoor Cameras
Release in Q3 2011 to replace 8000S series
Pan Tilt Zoom IP Cameras and IP Cameras in outdoor housings
(with heaters) require more power than indoor cameras / non PTZ
PoE+ (also called High PoE or 802.3at) - more power than standard PoE
AT-8100S range 24 / 48 ports PoE+
385 Watt PoE power budget (using both PSU) - 48 ports @ 8 Watts
- 24 ports @ 16 Watts
- 12 ports @ 30 Watts

Ethernet Cat 5 or Cat 6 Maximum distance is 100 metres, for distances more than 100m use Fibre
Remote end AT-PC232/PoE Copper to fibre converter & PoE Injector combined (SC Fibre Connector)
Central Site fibre switch with Gig copper uplinks
PoE cat 5 length up to 100m fibre length up to 2Km
IP Camera more than 100m away?
IP Camera more than 100m away, want fibre connection with LC connector?
Remote end AT-PC2002/PoE Copper to SFP fibre converter & PoE Injector combined Central site fibre switch
any fibre type, fibre length up to 80Km
PoE Cat 5 length up to 100m Appropriate SFP’s required at both ends
6
This usually involves replacing the old Co-ax wiring for new Cat 5 or Cat 6 cabling
Use a Media converter to allow running Ethernet over Co-ax, it can be cheaper & quicker
Upgrading Analog Cameras to IP Cameras?
AT-MC606 VDSL 100Mb Ethernet over Co-ax Media Converter
Co-ax length up to 2Km
Central site solution allows up to 12Ethernet over co-ax Media converters To be put into one RackOptional PoE Injector (AT-6101G)
Saves running separate power cable to cameraMay be situated up to 100m away from Camera
7Outdoor Wireless Router 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Dual Band, Dual Radio 802.11a/b/g compliant connects directly to cameras High sensitivity radio for longer reach wireless links Selection of directional antenna for longer reach PoE powered for wired backhaul Dual Radio allows for Wireless backhaul
