The Golden Age of Islam

❖ The Golden Age was a time of great achievements for the Islamic civilization. The Golden Age had many contributions. The contributions was Islam’s Holy Book, the Qur’an, Islamic Law and the spread of the Arabic language to the empire, the impact paper had on its economy, the House of Wisdom, were literature and knowledge was translated to Arabic. From there the important work was that used for teachings of Islam.

An Economic Key Achievement

❖ Paper played a major role in a key achievement for the Islamic economy. Paper was easier to make than papyrus and it made word more available to everyone. Paper use quickly spread throughout the empire. First used for the government then for all. Shops started to sell paper and books at all and business used it for a form of credit. Now that is equal to a check today.

Key Achievements

❖ There were many economic, intellectual, political, and social achievements during the Islamic Golden Age. This presentation is on some of those achievements.

An Intellectual Key Achievement

❖ Advances in medicine included anatomy, diseases, & more. Al-Zahrawi wrote on anatomy that was later translated to Latin and used as a medical textbook in Europe for centuries. Al-Razi wrote and practice medicine. He wrote about diseases that are around today, smallpox and chickenpox.

A Political Key Achievement

❖ As the Islamic empire started to expand more and more, more people started to become on Islamic rule. Islamic law became the only law (universal) throughout the empire. Arabic language was the official language and people started to learn it. It made it easier to communicate. From this cultures blended and trade increased throughout the empire and further. Goods and information was traveling all around.

A Social Key Achievement

❖ As the Islamic empire grew more people and places were added. The Islamic law was universal everywhere in the empire and Arabic was the official language. By everyone practicing the same customs and language it united the empire. Speaking the same language made communication easier. By this achievement, many more achievements followed.
