Named tickets are being sent home today in your child’s report pack; please remember to bring them on the night. A reminder that younger children cannot be brought along, even with a ticket. Any spare tickets will be given out to families who have requested them on Monday. The performance starts at 6.00pm and children need to be back at school for 5.30pm, entering through the main doors. Parking is available on the playground but do take care as there will be lots of children about; we also ask that parents use the playground only and not the spaces around the back of the school or along the driveway as these are for staff only; many thanks for this. Parents will be able to enter the hall at 5.30pm and choose their seats. However, we ask that you do not ‘save’ seats for people arriving later as this is unfair to those who arrive early. The PTA will be serving refreshments before the show and in the interval so please bring your loose change! As with every year, at the end of the show there will be a collection. We do not charge for tickets, but are really grateful for your contributions which are used directly to support drama in school, for example enabling us to pay for performance licences, scripts, music, props and scenery. There will be Gift Aid envelopes on each chair, which helps us to make even more of your generosity. The children and staff have worked very hard on the production and we really hope you enjoy the show! Annual Reports to Parents Your child’s Annual Report has been sent home today. Please contact us immediately if you do not receive it. Please also take time to read all the additional sheets in the pack as they contain important information. The reply slip acknowledging receipt of your child’s report needs to be returned by the end of term. Year 6 SATs results Children will not have their end of key stage assessments included in the report pack as the results are not in until next week (10 th July). We will send them home as soon as possible. When you get the sheet, there is a breakdown of how well your child is achieving in line with the expectations - this includes a teacher assessment judgement (taking into account ALL the child’s work in that area) and the results from the tests. Outcomes from the tests are in a format using a scaled score where 100 represents the expected standard. The results sheet gives an explanation but if you are unsure, please do talk to Mrs Stewart or me. Induction Day & Secondary Transfer Next Thursday is a day of all change! Our Year 6 pupils will be spending the day at their secondary schools and we wish them lots of luck. In school, our new reception children will be joining us for the first time and the children in all other classes will be spending part of the day with their new teachers. Important for YEAR 2 PARENTS Since your child started school they have been entitled to ‘Universal Infant Free School Meals’. However this will cease from the end of this term so from September dinners will have to be paid for. If you think you might be entitled to benefit related free school meals please speak to the office or apply online. It is definitely worth registering because as well as free meals this entitles you to other financial assistance such as subsidised trips and music lessons. Sports news Today the rounders team have been defending their title; I am sure they will have played very well and we are looking forward to hearing how they got on. Well done to the children who took part in the lacrosse tournament last week. They placed third despite not having any prior experience of the sport – amazing! Good luck to the children competing in the hockey finals tomorrow, and to Chloe for her trampolining national competition on Saturday – fingers crossed for you all! The Leaver’s Service takes place in Church at 2.15pm on Wednesday 18 th July. Parents of all children, not just those of children leaving, are welcome to attend. Whilst pre-schoolers aged 3 and over are welcome to join us we do ask that you take them outside if they make a noise; as I am sure you understand, the Leavers Service is planned entirely by the Year 6 children and this is their very special moment before leaving us. As usual, the Governors will be serving teas in the school hall after the service for Year 6 children and their parents. Mrs Jones A reminder that if you would like to contribute to a leaving gift for Mrs Jones’ retirement, this is being collected in the office. Thank you. Last week of clubs A reminder that this is the final week of clubs until we resume in the autumn. I am sure you will join me in thanking all the staff who have provided a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities throughout the year. Leavers v Staff Rounders Match On Monday 16 th July, weather permitting, the staff and Year 6 children will be going head to head in an end of year rounders match. This will take place straight after school at the field and you are all very welcome to come along and cheer everyone on. The match should start at 3.30pm and we estimate will last an hour at the very most. If you bring younger children or pre- schoolers, please ensure that they do not run around too close to the pitch as some of those Year 6s can hit that rounders ball a long way and we don’t want any casualties! School PTA! This is a brilliant addition to the funds and great encouragement as we look forward to the next school year.

Safety notice: Following the recent news reports of a bouncy castle accident due to hot weather, the PTA have sought reassurance from our supplier regarding the castle at the fair. They tell us: We'd also like to reassure our customers. We're aware of a lot comments on social media claiming this was a bouncy castle that exploded due to heat. This isn't the case. It was a sealed inflatable TRAMPOLINE - these work like a blow up bed or lilo - very different to the bouncy castles we provide. The bouncy castles we supply have a constant airflow system, so outside air is being pumped into them all the time by a large fan and also they're leaking constantly through all the seams of the castle. Therefore making it impossible to "explode". Bouncy castles are used all over the world in much hotter climates than our current one the DO NOT EXPLODE DUE TO HEAT. Please rest assured if Bouncy castles are set up correctly and ran correctly they are very safe.
