SURAH AR-RAHMAN (THE MOST GRACIOUS) MEDINAN PERIOD Division: 596 1 Rahman [Allah; The One Who is the Most Merciful Towards His Creations on the Earth] taught how to recite and teach the Qur’an, created man, taught him the good and the evil, and how to make distinction between them. 5 The sun and the moon follow a calculation. 6 And stemless plants and trees prostrate and surrender as well. 7-9 And He created the Heavens and elevated it and placed the scale/measurement/the balance so you might not transgress in scale, measurement, balance. Measure with justice, do not damage the scale/measurement/balance. (97/55; Ar-Rahman/1-9) Division: 597 33 O communities of Jinn [unknown] and Ins [men]! 386 If you are able to transcend beyond the Heavens and the Earth by their edges, then do it, but you cannot do that without a supreme power. 34 Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you both deny? 31 O you two groups! What does “Islam” mean? The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

31O you two groups! We will soon conclude your accounts.

35Flames and smoke from the Fire will be sent upon you so you will not have any help.

36Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

10-12And He created the Earth which has fruits and date palms with clusters, leafed grains and balmy flowers and He descended it for the creatures of it.

14,15He created all known creatures from a dried mud which resembles baked clay/a viscous substance. And He created the unseen creatures from the smokeless fire/energy.

16Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

17Rahman [Allah; The One Who is the Most Merciful Towards His Creations on the Earth] is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] of the two easts and Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] of the two wests.

18Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

19He released the two seas joining together. 20There is an obstacle between them, they cannot mix together.

21Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

22Pearls and corrals are extracted from both of them.

23Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

24And belong to Him the vessels that are erected on the seas like mountains.

25Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

26,27Each and every man on the Earth will perish. And only Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] Himself, the Glorious and the Beneficent will remain eternal.

28Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

29Those who are in the Heavens and on the Earth supplicate Him. He always is engaged with an affair.

30Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

37And when the Heavens split open and become a rose like olive oil…

38Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

39And on that day, known-unknown, passed away or not, none will be held responsible for others’ sins.

40Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

41Sinner will be recognized by their marks and seized by their foreheads and feet.

42Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

43This is Jahannah [Hell] which the sinners used to deny. 44There they shall float through the boiling water.

45Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

46And there are two gardens of Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] for those who fear the authority of your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer].

47Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

48In both of them are branches.

49Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

50In both of them are spring flowing.

51Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

52In both of them will be all kinds of fruits in pairs.

53Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

54Close will be the crops of the both gardens of Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] to those who shall lean over the beds lined with thick silk/satin.

56In there shall be those who stare; who are not touched nor seen by none, known or unknown, passed away or not.

57Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

58They are like rubies and coral.

59Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

60What can else be the reward of good deeds other than the good?

61Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

62And there are two other gardens of Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] below them.

63Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

64All green are they.

65Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

66In both of them are two springs flowing constantly.

67Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

68In both of them are fruits, dates and pomegranates.

69Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

70And within those fruits are good and beautiful.

71Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

72In both of them are bright-eyed ones, secluded in tents.

74Known or unknown, none has touched them before.

75Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

76Reclining on green pillows and “Akhbari” sheets; excellently embroidered mattresses…

77Then, which one of that which Allah is capable of; His unique power, unequalled blessings you two deny?

78How generous is the name of your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer], the Possessor of Grandeur and Sublimity, the One Who is to impose commands and prohibitions.387
