As September brings seasonal changes, so there will be a seasonal change in the sta" among the Taylor Road Family. Sunday night August 29th, Alan Newman’s last Sunday as the Praise Leader of the Taylor Road Family, brings mixed reviews. There is a sadness that he will no longer be an o#cial part of the sta", but also there is an opportunity for the church as she looks forward to what God has in store. For with God on the other side of any disappointment is an opportunity for His Appointment. Change one letter, d to an H, and the will of God, becomes most important in the changes we face.

Michael Jones has agreed to be our interim during our search for a new Praise Leader. Our personnel team will be bringing a search team to the church for approval on Sunday night September 19th. Please make your plans to do your part in the Taylor Road Family concerning seeking God’s leader for this important ministry. August has revealed the more prayers that are o"ered by the family, the more we see God’s work in and among the family. The most important thing you can do in this interim time is pray for God to work through Michael and for God to lead us to the right person. Already we believe this person must be a godly person with an excellence for music ministry, and we believe that God has chosen this person for His work here.

“All things happen for a reason.” Sometimes I hear that phrase and I don’t like it. At times it sounds like something someone just made up to say just to make you feel better when something doesn’t turn out like you want it to…to comfort you. Well, if you take a minute and ponder that statement, it is true. God has a reason in mind as it relates to me stepping down from my position as Praise Leader. And, I know what it is: God has already chosen a person to come to Taylor Road to take our worship and the music program to the next level!

Having an energetic full-time person will yield enormous results for Taylor Road. I believe, if we will allow God to guide us, the music ministry can be one of the major methods we reach people in Montgomery. Please pray for the search team as they seek the man God has in store to lead this vital ministry. This is a critical decision, and one that has enormous potential for His Kingdom’s work.

Finally, please let me thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside so many dedicated people for over !ve years. When I stop and re$ect on the way our weekly worship has evolved since I arrived, I am humbled to see how God has put such an incredible team in place to move forward in our worship. I have enjoyed this ministry so much. I have been so blessed to be a part of it. I will never forget the special times we have shared.

Let’s prepare ourselves to worship Him and follow Michael’s leadership and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. God has great things in store for Taylor Road!!!

A team has committed to go and serve through door to door evangelism for the purpose of !nding people to begin new churches. How you can help? First of all, we all need to pray

daily for the team. Secondly, we can make !nancial contributions to help several ofthe team members go.

The team will also be taking funds given by the boys and girls of Vacation Bible School to minister to the children of

Guatemala. Please pray and please give that others might receive the gift of life in Christ.

Operation Christmas Child

Christmas in September? It does seem a little early to be thinking about Christmas but Operation Christmas Child is quickly approaching and there are several things we can do as a church to be prepared!

First thing and most importantly - start praying for the child that will receive the box you are sending.

Second, start collecting shoe boxes (standard size) or small plastic containers.

When the boxes are presented to the children, it is part of a lively, fun event. Included is a creative Gospel presentation by local churches and ministry partners. The shoe boxes are given to the children unconditionally.Children are o!ered a copy of The Greatest Gift of All booklet in their own language by local churches and ministry partners.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local

church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Beginning Wednesday, October 6, we will introduce the Awana program in preschool! If you aren’t already attending on Wednesday evenings, this will be a great opportunity to start!

Awana Cubbies is for preschoolers and is built on two premises - young children can and should receive spiritual training and home is the primary place for spiritual training.

Awana teaches simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Leaders have a leader’s guidebook to help them plan and direct club time and communicate the lesson. If you are interested in helping out, let me know!

Children’s Choir- 5:30 p.m.It is never too late to get your child involved in Children’s Choir. They are preparing for their Christmas Musical, so now is a great time to get your child there to learn about music and worship.

Wednesday Events:Bible Drill- 6:00 p.m.- C107This is a great time for your 4th-6th grader to learn scripture as well as the structure of the Bible.

AWANA- 6:30-7:40 p.m.- Rally RoomDon’t miss this exciting time of scripture memory, games and missions. September 1st is football season night—remember to wear your team colors.

Bible Drill needs encouragers (willing to write notes and pray for Bible drillers) and listeners (willing to show up 1-2 times a month to listen to children recite their verses). Contact David ([email protected]) if you canhelp listen to kids recite Bible verses.

We've actually had a good problem lately...too many photographs! We outgrew our previous photo storage website and have now migrated over 8,000 photos of our church family to our new storage site. You can still !nd it by going to www.TaylorRoad.org/photogallery. The site has all the photos broken down by the year and the event where the photographs were taken. In 2010 alone, there are folders for over 37 events where our photographers have been there to document the life of the church. Plus you see the photos right here in the Archways every month!

We are always on the lookout for more photographers too. If you are interested in getting involved in the photography ministry at Taylor Road, let me know by dropping me an email. Photographers are scheduled for an event in general once a month. The only requirement is a good eye, preferably a digital SLR camera and a willingness to learn how our photography storage system works!

Wireless Internet should now be available in a majority of the church. A third wireless point was added in Building C (Education) recently which means it is available in all three buildings now. There are still a few points in the buildings where the signal is weak, but hopefully as time and money allows we will in those gaps.

For you that carry smart phones with the Facebook app, a new function has been added called “places”. It works by using your GPS location to tell people where you are. When you come to church, go to places and “check in” at Taylor Road to let your friends know that you have arrived. The great thing about this is that not only will your Facebook friends know that you are at church, but your friends at church will know you are here too. The application tells you who else has checked in at church so that you know they are here too!

Last but not least, be on the look out for the opportunity to sign up for a weekly encouraging message from Pastor Andy to be delivered straight to your cell phone by text message. Not only will you get the once weekly message, but this will also allow us to send important messages quickly in the case of an emergency to you. We are always on the look out for the newest and most creative ways to communicate with you and to make sure you stay fully informed of what's going on at Taylor Road!

Hey Everybody,

It's September and school is back in session, and football is being played once again. That means it is time for the Student Ministry kick-o!. On Sunday, September 12, after the morning worship service, we will have lunch together in the fellowship hall and look at the major events happening in the Student Ministry for the upcoming year. If you are a parent of a student in 7th through 12th grade, you will not want to miss this. We are asking for everyone to bring a covered dish to church that morning, and we will be providing tea and lemonade. We will try to give all of the dates and costs for activities for the year as well as allow you to sign up to host fellowships and provide snacks and goodies for fellowships at other peoples houses. Make your plans now to be in attendance.

The month of September also means See You at the Pole. All across the nation and the world, student will be gathering on Wednesday morning, September 22, to pray for their schools and their school administration. This event is always an important time in the life of our schools and our students. The evening of See you at the Pole we will share at Refuge stories from pray gatherings that morning. Check with your school to see what time your prayer gathering will be.

Last but not least, Thank you to the Thompson's for hosting a pool party on August 20. Our students had a great time of fellowship and it allowed our some of our parents to take part in a youth forum that dealt with teen issues.

8 tackle the debt

Recently you should have received several letters about our new campaign to “Tackle The Debt”. In the last letter we asked that our entire church family pray and seek God’s will as to the level of commitment we are willing to make as we work to reduce the debt to below seven million dollars.

We have begun collecting the “Commitment to Tithe” cards now and ask that you take a few moments to pray and !ll yours out. Remember, this commitment is from September 1 to December 31. For your convenience we have included another commitment to tithe card that you can cut out and turn in.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration as to how your family will participate in our campaign to “Tackle The Debt”.

7money mattersIn order to stay out of debt, two steps need to be followed. 1. Develop a written plan of all expenditures in order of importance. Determine whether the expenditure or purchase is a need (basic necessities such as food, clothing, and housing), a want (things that make life easier, such as more expensive clothes, a VCR, or air conditioning), or a desire (more expensive wants, such as designer clothes, a new BMW, or a wide-screen TV). 2. Open a savings account and get in the habit of putting something into the savings account regularly, perhaps every week or every month. The amount of deposit is not nearly as important as the consistency in making a deposit. This savings can then be used for speci!c purchases or emergencies, rather than making these purchases on credit.

Establish a titheEvery Christian needs to give something back to God as a testimony to God's ownership. A tithe is the portion of our income that we give to God and to God's work. It should be the !rst part. “Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the !rst of all your produce” (Proverbs 3:9). Tithe means “tenth.” This is the amount most Christians use as a guide for tithing, but it really should be just a starting point for our giving. It's through sharing that God's power in !nances is brought into focus. “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6).

Accept God's provisionIn order to maintain true !nancial peace, we must recognize and accept that God's provision—all that He gives—is what He has provided to direct our lives. Many Christians are under the impression that God directs !nancially only by an abundance of money. This is not necessarily true. Sometimes He directs by withholding !nancial abundance. As such, He expects His people to live on what He provides and not be pressured by the desire for riches and material possessions.

Put others !rstChristians seeking !nancial freedom must always be willing to put other people !rst. “Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:9-10). It is not God's plan for us to get ahead in the world at the expense of others. Their welfare must be considered. “Do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacri!ces God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).

Avoid indulgenceUnfortunately, most Christians in America are self-indulgers, rarely passing up a want or a desire, much less a need. To achieve !nancial freedom, indulgences and the tendency to spend more than what can be a"orded on things that are not needed must be avoided. Indulgence is greed. “But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints” (Ephesians 5:3).

Avoid snap decisionsAvoid impulse spending, get-rich-quick schemes, and other !nancial decisions made through intimidation. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5). The best way to avoid these traps is to pray about each purchase, each !nancial decision, and each opportunity that is intended to produce extra income—especially if the decision will a"ect the family's !nancial welfare. “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes” (Psalm 37:7).

ConclusionMost Christians have an upside-down view of money. They feel that the money they have is theirs and that God's money is the portion that they give to the church. God has a di"erent view. As Lord, God, and King, He owns everything—including the money that we claim as our own. As such, He has clear ideas of how He wants His people to function and to make use of His possessions—ideas that result in !nancial freedom for His people, if they are followed step by step.

6money matters

It is not always a lack of money that creates !nancial pressure. Many times it is simply a matter of attitude. If there is a right attitude toward money, freedom from !nancial bondage can be assured. God did not say that money and material things were problems; money is neither good nor bad. It is the use of money and the attitude toward money that is the problem. Therefore, Jesus regularly warned His followers to guard their hearts against greed, ego, and pride, because Satan can control God's people with these emotional tools. In the area of !nances, God's people are extremely vulnerable. As such, they need to be encouraged to follow the necessary steps that will ensure money management according to God's plan, thus assuring !nancial freedom.

Transfer ownershipGod has designated the most di"cult step, transfer of ownership, as the !rst step. Once this has been accomplished, all other steps will fall into place.

As Christians, God expects that all possessions be transferred to Him. Since we can't literally place everything into His hands, this transfer becomes an act of faith. In essence, it means accepting the fact that God owns it all. Transferring ownership to God means that God owns all that we consider ours: clothes, car, home, family, income, debts, present, and future. Once ownership is transferred, God can begin to lead out of debt and into !nancial freedom. We then become stewards and managers of what belongs to Him.

So, if God is the owner of everything in Christians' lives, He can be trusted to change unhealthy spending habits (especially the abuse of credit cards) that cause debt, anxiety, and fear of the future. The key to maintaining this relationship is to understand properly the de!nition of stewardship. A steward is someone who manages the property of another. As His stewards, we are responsible for managing His property in a way that will please Him. God will not force His will on us, but if we realize our responsibility and transfer everything to Him, He will keep His promise and provide for each and every need. The !rst step in achieving !nancial freedom is to realize that since God is in complete control, all that we are, do, have or ever will have must be transferred to Him.

Get out and stay out of debtThere are many ways to get into debt but only one sure way to get out and stay out of debt: self-discipline.

Regardless of income, disciplined debt elimination is mandatory in order for a money management plan that keeps Christians out of debt to function properly. Proverbs 27:12 says, "A prudent man sees evil and hides himself, the naive proceed and pay the penalty."

Debt can best be eliminated by following these steps. 1. Transfer ownership of every possession to God (Psalms 8:6, Deuteronomy 5:32-33) 2. Allow no more debt, including bank and personal loans, and cut up all credit cards if unable to pay them o# each month (Proverbs 24:3) 3. Develop a realistic balanced budget that will allow every creditor to receive as much as possible monthly (Proverbs 16:9) 4. Start retiring the debt (Psalms 37:21, Proverbs 3:27-28), beginning with the smallest debt !rst. Once the smallest is paid o#, put all the money on the next, and so on.

Generally speaking, if these steps are followed, the average family will be debt free in less than !ve years and the problem that caused the debt in the !rst place could very well have been corrected.

It is not God's plan for us to get ahead in the world at the expense of others.

Beginning Wednesday, October 6, we will introduce the Awana program in preschool! If you aren’t already attending on Wednesday evenings, this will be a great opportunity to start!

Awana Cubbies is for preschoolers and is built on two premises - young children can and should receive spiritual training and home is the primary place for spiritual training.

Awana teaches simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Leaders have a leader’s guidebook to help them plan and direct club time and communicate the lesson. If you are interested in helping out, let me know!

for a day of family fun! We will meet at 9 a.m. outside the

Sunday Events:Sunday School- 9:09 a.m.Don’t forget Sunday School starts at 9:09 a.m. and all children meet in the Rally Room for games and announcements before heading to their classes. However they should be picked up from their classroom after Sunday School.

Children’s Choir- 5:30 p.m.It is never too late to get your child involved in Children’s Choir. They are preparing for their Christmas Musical, so now is a great time to get your child there to learn about music and worship.

Wednesday Events:Bible Drill- 6:00 p.m.- C107This is a great time for your 4th-6th grader to learn scripture as well as the structure of the Bible.

AWANA- 6:30-7:40 p.m.- Rally RoomDon’t miss this exciting time of scripture memory, games and missions. September 1st is football season night—remember to wear your team colors.

Bible Drill needs encouragers (willing to write notes and pray for Bible drillers) and listeners (willing to show up 1-2 times a month to listen to children recite their verses). Contact David ([email protected]) if you canhelp listen to kids recite Bible verses.

AWANA needs listeners and helpers for Wednesday nights. The program has really grown, so some of the classes need to be split. Contact David ([email protected]) if you would like to help kids learn scripture orteach them about missions at home and abroad.

We are delighted to announce that Michael Jones will be our Interim Praise Leader. He will begin with choir practice on September 8. It would be a great time for all singers to check out the worship choir of Taylor Road! They meet at 6:30 p.m. in the choir suite.

We've actually had a good problem lately...too many photographs! We outgrew our previous photo storage website and have now migrated over 8,000 photos of our church family to our new storage site. You can still !nd it by going to www.TaylorRoad.org/photogallery. The site has all the photos broken down by the year and the event where the photographs were taken. In 2010 alone, there are folders for over 37 events where our photographers have been there to document the life of the church. Plus you see the photos right here in the Archways every month!

We are always on the lookout for more photographers too. If you are interested in getting involved in the photography ministry at Taylor Road, let me know by dropping me an email. Photographers are scheduled for an event in general once a month. The only requirement is a good eye, preferably a digital SLR camera and a willingness to learn how our photography storage system works!

Wireless Internet should now be available in a majority of the church. A third wireless point was added in Building C (Education) recently which means it is available in all three buildings now. There are still a few points in the buildings where the signal is weak, but hopefully as time and money allows we will in those gaps.

For you that carry smart phones with the Facebook app, a new function has been added called “places”. It works by using your GPS location to tell people where you are. When you come to church, go to places and “check in” at Taylor Road to let your friends know that you have arrived. The great thing about this is that not only will your Facebook friends know that you are at church, but your friends at church will know you are here too. The application tells you who else has checked in at church so that you know they are here too!

Last but not least, be on the look out for the opportunity to sign up for a weekly encouraging message from Pastor Andy to be delivered straight to your cell phone by text message. Not only will you get the once weekly message, but this will also allow us to send important messages quickly in the case of an emergency to you. We are always on the look out for the newest and most creative ways to communicate with you and to make sure you stay fully informed of what's going on at Taylor Road!

Sunday SchoolOur new Sunday School year is o" to a great start. Thank you for

your faithfulness during the Summer months. Our 10 of 13 attendance campaign was successful because of your love for

the Lord and His house and His people. Let's build on these last few weeks and continue to honor the Lord with our presence

and have a great Fall in the study of God's word.

A team has committed to go and serve through door to door evangelism for the purpose of !nding people to begin new churches. How you can help? First of all, we all need to pray

daily for the team. Secondly, we can make !nancial contributions to help several ofthe team members go.

The team will also be taking funds given by the boys and girls of Vacation Bible School to minister to the children of

Guatemala. Please pray and please give that others might receive the gift of life in Christ.

Operation Christmas Child

Christmas in September? It does seem a little early to be thinking about Christmas but Operation Christmas Child is quickly approaching and there are several things we can do as a church to be prepared!

First thing and most importantly - start praying for the child that will receive the box you are sending.

Second, start collecting shoe boxes (standard size) or small plastic containers.

When the boxes are presented to the children, it is part of a lively, fun event. Included is a creative Gospel presentation by local churches and ministry partners. The shoe boxes are given to the children unconditionally.Children are o!ered a copy of The Greatest Gift of All booklet in their own language by local churches and ministry partners.

Know that with your shoe box youare helping to “Share the Good News ofJesus Christ” across the globe!

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local

church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

What Should You Include?

As September brings seasonal changes, so there will be a seasonal change in the sta" among the Taylor Road Family. Sunday night August 29th, Alan Newman’s last Sunday as the Praise Leader of the Taylor Road Family, brings mixed reviews. There is a sadness that he will no longer be an o#cial part of the sta", but also there is an opportunity for the church as she looks forward to what God has in store. For with God on the other side of any disappointment is an opportunity for His Appointment. Change one letter, d to an H, and the will of God, becomes most important in the changes we face.

Michael Jones has agreed to be our interim during our search for a new Praise Leader. Our personnel team will be bringing a search team to the church for approval on Sunday night September 19th. Please make your plans to do your part in the Taylor Road Family concerning seeking God’s leader for this important ministry. August has revealed the more prayers that are o"ered by the family, the more we see God’s work in and among the family. The most important thing you can do in this interim time is pray for God to work through Michael and for God to lead us to the right person. Already we believe this person must be a godly person with an excellence for music ministry, and we believe that God has chosen this person for His work here.

“All things happen for a reason.” Sometimes I hear that phrase and I don’t like it. At times it sounds like something someone just made up to say just to make you feel better when something doesn’t turn out like you want it to…to comfort you. Well, if you take a minute and ponder that statement, it is true. God has a reason in mind as it relates to me stepping down from my position as Praise Leader. And, I know what it is: God has already chosen a person to come to Taylor Road to take our worship and the music program to the next level!

Having an energetic full-time person will yield enormous results for Taylor Road. I believe, if we will allow God to guide us, the music ministry can be one of the major methods we reach people in Montgomery. Please pray for the search team as they seek the man God has in store to lead this vital ministry. This is a critical decision, and one that has enormous potential for His Kingdom’s work.

Finally, please let me thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside so many dedicated people for over !ve years. When I stop and re$ect on the way our weekly worship has evolved since I arrived, I am humbled to see how God has put such an incredible team in place to move forward in our worship. I have enjoyed this ministry so much. I have been so blessed to be a part of it. I will never forget the special times we have shared.

Let’s prepare ourselves to worship Him and follow Michael’s leadership and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. God has great things in store for Taylor Road!!!
