The correct disposal and separate collection of waste equipment will help prevent poten-tial negative consequences for the environment and human health. It is a preconditionfor reuse and recycling of used electrical and electronic equipment.

1.6 RoHS complianceFPH800 complies with the European Union RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC on the restric-tion of use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
The directive applies to the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, poly-brominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE) in electricaland electronic equipment put on the market after 1 July 2006.

FPH800 complies with the Chinese standard SJ/T 11364-2006 on the restriction of theuse of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Thestandard applies to the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybro-minated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated divinely ethers (PBDE) in electrical andelectronic equipment put on the market after 1 March 2007.
1.7 CE complianceFlexiPacket Hub 800 is in compliance with the essential requirements and other relevantprovisions of Directive: 2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EC, and 1999/5/EC.

1.8 MEF complianceFlexiPacket Hub 800 operating at the NNI delivers EPL, EVPL and E-LAN servicecomplies with the Metro Ethernet Forum MEF14 technical specification. FlexiPacketHub 800 operating at the UNI delivers EPL, EVPL and E-LAN service complies with theMetro Ethernet Forum MEF9 technical specification.

3.1 OverviewFPH800 is a standard sub-rack compatible with standard both 19-inch rack and ETSIN3 rack.
Before installing FPH800, note the following:
f WARNING: Hazardous energy exists within the device. Always be careful to avoid electric shock or equipment damage.
f WARNING: Installation and maintenance should only be performed by a qualified tech-nician.
f WARNING: Never install FPH800 devices in laser networks above Class I.
g Install the device near an easily accessible power outlet.For details on FPH800 site configurations, refer to IDU Product Description .
There are three installation and grounding methods for different FPH800 site configura-tions. Single-IDU mode
To install single IDU into a 19-inch or a ETSI N3 rack. The installation flow chart isshown.

4 Powering on FPH800a Use the crimping tool to make the power cable.
Power connector kit is an assembly of a Phoenix 4-pin connector enclosed by aPlastic Hook, as shown in Figure 27 .

Properly terminate all optical fiber jumper cable outputs before connecting theinputs.
When using patch cords, make sure that the each ferrule is covered by its protective
cap. Disconnect the input connector of the optical fiber jumper cable before disconnect-
ing the output connector. Ensure that the optical fiber jumper cable output is safelyterminated before reconnecting the input.
Handle fibers with care. Glass fiber is subject to breakage if mishandled. Injury orpermanent equipment damage can result from using broken fiber.
Do not directly view the laser component of the modules from the output source, theoutput connector, or an unterminated fiber. The laser radiation can seriouslydamage your eyesight.
Do not directly view the laser component of this product using an optical instrumentwithout proper protective eye wear, filtering, or attenuation.
Avoid physical exposure to the laser beam. Avoid direct exposure to fiber ends or optical connector ends that are in the laser's
signal path. Place all optical fiber cuttings in a suitable container. Handle optical fibers with care. Keep them in a safe and secure location during
installation. Protect unconnected optical fiber connectors with dust caps. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when using an optical test set. Incorrect cal-
ibration or control settings could result in hazardous levels of radiation.
The following steps aplly to cabling the opitcal SFP GE interfaces on the mainboard or
the SFP interfaces on 4-port SFP card in pluggable slot.1 Insert the optical SFP module into the GE SFP interface.

The pluggable cards are supposed to be inserted and mounted in slot1 and/or slot 2 on
the front panel of the IDU. Despite the different card types, the installation is the samedue to their identical mechanical structure.
All the panels are standard sub-racks compatible with standard both 19-inch rack andETSI N3 rack. The installation and grounding falls into 3 methods due to differentmechanical structure of the panel: Installing patch panel BNC Installing patch panel RJ45 and patch panel CC4 Installing and grounding Dual-IDU protection panel
And in later sections of this chapter, the cabling of the accessories is introduced.

1 Unscrew the 2 thumb screws of the slot 2 (as an example) on the front panel of theIDU by hand.

2 Check the latch and keep it closed.
3 Insert the pluggable card into the IDU along the rail inside the slot and screw the 2
thumb screws

Steps to uninstall

Steps
1 Use a Torx T10 screwdriver and 4 screws to attach the L-shaped brackets onto bothsides of the patch panel, as is shown.
g The same bracket applys to the installation on both 19-inch rack and ETSI N3 rackby simply turning the bracket itself over.

6 Ground the panel by fixing the other end of the grounding patch cord to the ground-ing bar by hand, as is shown.

rack. The telecommunication industry standard is 5 ohm or less. Otherwise, pleasecheck the connection of the grounding cable, fix it and check the grounding resis-tance again.
g For areas where thunder and lightning occur often, the grounding resistance is pre-ferred to be less than 2 ohm.

6.7 Connecting the FlexBus port
The flexbus cable (angle) is used to connect the flexbus interface with the local traffic.

1 Screw the male TNC connector of the flexbus cable up to the FB port.
Both TNC connector with or without angle is applicable.
2 Wiring the cable along the cable rack and attach the other end of the cable to thelocal equipment interface.
6.8 Cabling the patch panels
There are three types of patch panels applicable to FPH800: RJ45 patch panel, CC4patch panel and BNC patch panel. FPH800 is connecting to each patch panel using aMDR68-MDR68 cable assembly.

1 Connect the FPH800 16 X E1/T1 interface and the 16 X E1/T1 interface on the patchpanel with an E1/T1 cable.
Both 75 ohm cable and 120 ohm cable with MDR68 connectors are applicable dueto different product E1/T1 impedance setting. Proper cables should be connected.
2 Connect the RJ45/CC4/BNC interface on the patch panel and the local equipmentinterface with the right cable.

The following steps uses the #1 GE electrical interface as an example to show thecabling procedures. The cabling process also applies to optical SFP interfaces and 16X E1/T1 interface.
1 Connect the #1 GE electrical interface on IDU-A and IDU-A ETH-1 interface on theprotection panel with an STP cat-5e cable.
2 Connect the #1 GE electrical interface on IDU-B and IDU-B ETH-1 interface on theprotection panel with an STP cat-5e cable.
3 Connect the USER ETH-1 interface on the protection panel local equipment inter-face with an STP cat-5e cable.
g Pay attention to the interface number.#n interface on IDU-A and #n interface on IDU-B has to be connected and forms onegroup with ETH-n interface on the protection panel, so that the 2 IDU interfaces can bemade into one YPG by software.
