System logs record the important events of the system, such asrunning errors, network failures, and attacks against the system,thus helping to analyze the operational status of the system andtroubleshoot the system.

NE operation logs record the important operations performed by NEusers, thus providing operation information for future reference.

NE security logs record the events related to NE security, such aslogging in to the LMT, modifying NE user authority, and adding NEusers, thus helping to monitor the operational status of NEs.

NE System logs record the important events of the system, such asrunning errors, NE failures, and attacks against the system, thushelping to analyze the operational status of the NEs, andtroubleshoot the system.

Log query template

NotesThe contents of the templates aresaved in the database of the server,and they are available only to theircreators.Each type of log template created by auser must have a unique name.The name of a template contains amaximum of 40 characters, and specialcharacters, such as`~!@#$% &*()|?,;':"[]{}, are notallowed.The system does not supportautomatic template refreshing. Thismeans that if a user logs in to client Aand modifies/deletes template A,

template A remains unaltered when theuser logs in to client B. You can closethe template first, then open it again,and the system refreshes theinformation of the template.

Querying logs(R8)You can use your authority to set query conditions. Then you canquery log

contents. You can sort log query results, print or save the results to files.

Collecting statistics on logs(R8)You can know the operation status by statisticingand analyzing the operation log.For example, at which period most operations are performed, and which operations

are performed most frequently.

Managing Log Templates(R8)To simplify the query and log statistics operations, the M2000 provides thelog template function. You can save the commonly used query and statistics

conditions as a template. In this situation, you can directly load the templatewhen you query or collect statistical information about logs. Using thefunction of log template management, you can create, modify, and delete alog template.

Logs query template can be categorized into operation logs query template,security logs query template and system logs query template.

New createcreate a new template.

Openopen a existent template.

Savesave the modified template.

Save assave new or editing template as another template

Deletedelete the existent template.

Synchronizing NE LogsTo obtain the latest logs, you need to synchronize the logs of the M2000 server withthose of NEs. In this way, the logs of NEs are consistent with those of the M2000 server.

Notes:1. Currently, logs cannot be synchronized automatically, but manually or periodically.

2. Procedure for synchronizing NE logs: On the topology view, select the NE whose logsneeds to be synchronized. Right-click Synchronize NE Operation & Security Logs, and thenchoose Software Management. The task synchronization information is displayed in theSoftware Management window.

The NE operation logs and NE security logs can be synchronized. The logs of NEs of typeB and type C cannot be synchronized.
