The EMBOL-X Glide protection system is designed to remove potentially dangerous emboli during on-pump cardiac surgery. It offers a dispersion flow cannula with introducer port, through which the EMBOL-X intra-aortic filter is deployed.

EMBOL-X aortic cannula• Auto-dilating tip eases insertion of cannula into aorta• Dispersion flow is designed to minimize turbulence• Dispersion tip reduces direct jetting of flow against aortic wall

EMBOL-X intra-aortic filter• 120-micron polyester mesh captures emboli without impeding blood flow• Flexible nitinol frame conforms to the aorta• Duraflo coating provides anti-thrombogenic properties• Spring-loaded tip is designed for atraumatic filter deployment

VenousReturn Cannulae

Surgeons rely on venous return cannulae with proprietary thin-wall technology.

• Wire-reinforcement helps prevent kinking and twisting

• Proprietary, thin-wall technology permits higher flows

• Large proximal side holes facilitate higher flows

• Multiple Fr. sizes for a variety of patients

• Straight, angled or malleable low profile

designs accommodate surgeons’ needs

• Patented, reinforced atrial baskets in dual

return cannulae are designed to

prevent collapse

RetrogradeCatheters

Edwards brings you flexibility through choice.

• First with patented pre-shaped stylet and handle

• First with self-inflating polyurethane balloon and

polyurethane retrograde catheters

• First with patented textured balloons

• First with Retractaguard anti-retraction lumen

Retrograde catheters are available with a choice of

handle. The pre-shaped stylet and handle are designed

specifically to provide easier trans-atrial location

of the coronary sinus. Malleable guidewire allows

surgeon to pre-shape based on preference.

• Pre-Shaped Stylet and Handle

• Malleable Guidewire

Selected products in this category are manufactured and sold under one or more

of the following U.S. patents: 5,021,045; 5,226,427; 5,423,745 and D335,705.

Balloon Choices

Retrograde catheters are available with a variety of materials and

texture combinations. Patented textured balloons aid retention of

the balloon in the coronary sinus.

• Polyurethane balloons may be self-inflating (operate on

differential pressure and inflate symmetrically) or manually inflated

(pressure controlled by surgeon)

• Smooth

• Textured

• 3-Tier

• Double Balloon

• Silicone balloons are manually inflated, remain soft and allow for

greater control of inflation pressure

• Textured

Retrograde catheters are available in a variety of materials and lengths. Three lengths are

available to accommodate pediatric and adult procedures. Whether your goal is to ease inser-

tion or to prevent kinking, there is a combination available to meet your needs.

• Wire-reinforced silicone

• Retractaguard anti-retraction lumen

– Helps prevent retraction, especially during posterior grafting

– Helps retain shape after insertion

• Polyurethane or PVC

The flow rate data presented in the graphs below represent laboratory data obtained using water at room temperature.

The actual pressure drops experienced in a clinical situation may vary from those shown depending on the fluid and

temperature.

All pressures drops are measured in mmHg and flow rates are measured in liters per minute.
