Answer: 1.42 = 1.4 x 1.4 = 2.88.  √2.88 is 1.4

11a) A decimal with a square root between 4 and 8.

Answer: Pick any  decimal between 4 and 8.  Square it.e.g.  6.12 = 6.1 x 6.1 = 37.21, so 37.21 has a square root between 4 and 8.
