Tepat digunakan pada percobaan faktorial jika pengaruh salah satu faktor sudah bisa diprediksi (main plot) dan ingin diketahui pengaruh interaksinya dengan faktor lain (sub plot), atau jika salah satu faktor lebih dipentingkan (sub plot) daripada faktor lainnya (main plot).

Bisa menggunakan rancangan dasar RAL maupun RAK.
