are focusing on the wildlife of Arctic Region. Here tourism comes as a force for good; travelling in national parks involves

Shanghai Disneyland reopens after four-

month shut down

The Walt Disney Company in Shanghai has

reopened its biggest Asia resort after a four-month

shutdown, as the health authorities in this Chinese

city eased restrictions on public gatherings after

the coronavirus outbreak affected 24 million

people in this mega city. The tickets for Shanghai

Disneyland had restricted to one-third of its normal

daily capacity of 80,000 visitors. The reopening of

this wonderland, which is the biggest of

Disneyland’s three resorts in Asia that hosted about

11.8 million visitors in 2018. The coronavirus

pandemic helped lop off US$1.4 billion of its

income, by shutting cinemas and theme parks

around the world during the three months to

March 31 versus a year earlier.Atlantis, the Palm has partially reopened for daily

BECM appeals Malaysian government to

distinguish between mass gathering and

MICE events

The Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM) is

appealing to the government of Malaysia to create

a clear difference or distinctions between MICE

business events and mass gatherings with a view to

establishing a resume date for this vital financial

sector. Currently, under the Conditional Movement

Control Order (CMCO) conferences and exhibitions

are prohibited from taking place. The Chairman of

BECM, Alan Pryor, said that it was important that

the government of Malaysia understood that the

business events industry can operate safely under

comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures

(SOPs). The business events venues and facilities of

Malaysia can offer controlled environments

combined with high quality operational standards

to ensure the health and safety of people, which

has always been and will continue to be, a primary

concern of the business events industry. As such,

When humans abandon cities, ecological succession takes place and a more diverse wildlife is supported.

These systems become healthy and have diverse biodiversity due to lesser human impact. Cities can be hostile

places for urban wildlife due to fragmented habitat, pollution, road collisions and disturbances and

conflict among people. But under the coronavirus lockdown, these threats

are greatly reduced.

In Nara, Japan deer were seen wandering in the urban streets after it was deserted due to lockdown. In a field

close to Luton, Britain airport, deer were spotted in a field while in Lopburi, Thailand, monkeys were seen

congregating in front of a shop near Prang Sam Yod Temple. Canals in Venice have turned crystal clear after boat

traffic was brought to a halt; swan and fish can be seen enjoying here.

At the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, a pair of rockhopper penguins were seen wandering and interacting with

years we have lost 60% of all wildlife and the number of new infectious disease has quadrupled in the last 60

years. The ecosystem is damaged, natural habitats are reduced and species are living in closer quarters which

increases the risk of viruses from animals finding new hosts in us!

It is expected that there will be innovation in business communication and change in human behavioure post

the crisis which may restructure the cities and give space to nature. On the other hand, global tourism industry
