These safety instructions are intended to prevent a hazardous situation or equipment damage. These instructuions indicate the level of potential hazard by a label of Caution, Warning and Danger. To ensure safety, be sure to observe ISO 4414, KS B 6376 and etc.

Warning 1. Use clean air.

Do not use compressed air that contains chemicals, synthetic oils including organic solvents, salt or corrosive gases, etc., as it can cause damage or malfunction.

Caution1. Install an air lter upstream near the valve. Select an air lter with a ltration size of 5 m or smaller.2. When extremely dry air is used as the uid, degradation of the lubrication properties inside the equipment may occur, resulting in reduced reliability (or reduced service life) of the equipment.3. If excessive carbon dust is generated by the compressor, it may adhere to the inside of a valve and cause it to malfunction.

Pneumatic system design and device speci cations selection should be done by the person with professional knowledge.

Person who designs and decides the devices speci cations is responsible for system performance and security.

Only trainned person is allowed to operate pneumatic devices.

Improper handling of high-pressure compressed air is dangerous. Only person with professional knowledge is allowed to assembly, operate and maintain the pneumatic system.

Do not remove components until safety is con rmed.1) Inspection and maintenance of machine and equipment should only be performed after the con rmation of safe locked-out control positions.2) Make sure the safety procedure is carried out before disassembly the pneumatic devices. Cut off the supply pressure of the equipment and release the residual compressed air in the system.3) When restart the system, be aware workpeace own out cause injury.

Operating Environment

Warning 1. Do not use in an atmosphere having corrosive gases, chemicals, sea water, water, water steam, or where there is direct contact with any of these.2. Do not use in an environment where ammable gas or explosive gas exists.3. Do not use in a place subject to heavy vibration and/or shock.4. The valve should not be exposed to prolonged sunlight. Use a protective cover.5. Remove any sources of excessive heat.6. If it is used in an environment where there is possible contact with oil, weld spatter, etc., exercise preventive measures.7. Attach a silencer at the exhaust port of valve to prevent dust get into valve.

Lubrication

Caution1. Valve have been lubricated for life by the manufacturer and therefore, do not require lubrication while in service.2. If a lubricant is used in the system, use class 1 turbine oil (no additive), ISO VG32. Once a lubricant is used in the system, lubrication must be continued because the original lubricant applied during manufacturing will be washed away.

Design

Warning1. Actuator drive

When an actuator, such as a cylinder, is to be driven using a valve, take appropriate measures (cover installation approach prohibition) to prevent potential danger caused by actuator operation.

2. Intermediate stopsFor 3-position closed center or double check valve type, it is dif cult to make a piston stop at the required position accurately due to the compressibility of air. Furthermore, since valves and cylinders are not guaranteed for zero air leakage, it may not be possible to hold a stopped position for an extended period of time. Please contact KCC if it is necessary to hold a stopped position for an extended period of time.

3. Effect of back pressure when using a manifoldUse caution when valves are used on a manifold, because an actuator may malfunction due to back-pressure.For 3-position exhaust center valve or single acting cylinder, take appropriate measures to prevent malfunction by using it with an individual EXH spacer assembly, a back pressure check valve or an individual exhaust manifold.

4. Since the valves are subject to air leakage, they cannot be used for applications such as holding pressure (including vacuum)in a pressure vessel.

5. The valves listed in this catalogue are not designed for safety applications such as an emergency shutoff valve. If the valves are used for the mentioned applications, additional safety measures should be adopted.

6. Release of residual pressureFor maintenance purposes install a system for releasing residual pressure. Especially in the case of 3-position closed center valve or double check valve type, ensure that the residual pressure between the valve and the cylinder is released.

7. Operation in a vacuum conditionWhen a valve is used for switching a vacuum, take measures to install a suction lter or similar to prevent external dust or other foreign matter from entering inside the valve. In addition, at the time of vacuum adsorption, be sure to vacuum at all times. Failure to do so may result in foreign matter sticking to the adsorption pad, or air leakage causing the workpiece to drop.

8. Double solenoid typeWhen using the double solenoid type for the rst time, actuators may travel in an unexpected direction depending on the switching position of the valve. Implement measures to prevent any danger from occurring when operating the actuator.

9. Provide ventilation when using a valve in a con ned area, such as in a closed control panel. For example, install a ventilation opening, etc.

10. Please allow suf cient space for maintenance.

Selection

Warning 1. Con rm the speci cations.

Do not operate at pressures or temperatures, etc., beyond the range of speci cations, as this can cause damage or malfunction. (Refer to the speci cations.)

2. Avoid continuous energizationThere is no need for continuous energization. Depending on conditions, continuous energization may cause a rise in the coil temperature resulting in malfunction.

Caution1. Momentary energization

If a double solenoid valve is operated with momentary energization, it should be energized for at least 0.1 second.

2. Leakage voltage 1) The suppressor residual leakage voltage should be as follows.

AC coil: 15% or less of rated voltage DC coil: 2% or less of rated voltage2) Take note that the leakage voltage will increase when a resistor is used in parallel with switching element or a C-R circuit (surge voltage suppressor) is used for protecting a switching device because of the passing leakage voltage through the CR circuit.

3. Temperature conditionDo not use temperature outside of the speci cation range. Take appropriate measures to avoid freezing of drainage, moisture etc. in low temperature.

4. Operation for air blowingWhen using a solenoid valve for air blowing, use an external pilot type or direct acting type. In case of external pilot type, supply pressure should be same as speci cations (1.5 kgf/cm2)

5. Mounting orientationMounting orientation of a single solenoid is universal. No speci c orientation is necessary. When installing a double solenoid or a 3-position con guration, mount the valve so that spool valve is horizontal. Mount the valve vertically to the vibration for the place with vibration and shock. Avoid using at the place with vibration and shock outside of the speci cation range in catalouge.

Caution 1. Do not use wire greater than size 0.5~1.25 . Do not apply force on the wire.2. Prevent "Chattering" happend at the contact point. 3. Attach surge killer or connect surge absorber parallelly with solenoid valve when the solenoid circuit reluctant to surge.4. Use voltage in the range ± 10% to the rated voltage.Use voltage in the range± 5%to the rated voltage when fast response is required to a DC current. Value of pressure drop is counted from wire connecting to the coil.

Warning1. Stop operate in the cases where leakage is increasing or device does not not work properly. Check mounting conditions when air and power supplies are connected. Initial function and leakage tests should be performed after installation.2. Please consult with KCC before applying paint to resinous parts, as this may have an adverse effect due to the solvent in the paint.

2. DIN connector wiring method 1) Loosen the mounting screw, and pull out the connector from solenoid valve ternimal block.

2) Remove the mounting screw, open and separate apart the terminal block and it's housing by using a at head screw driver.3) Loosen the terminal screw on the terminal block, insert the core of the wire into the terminal in accordance with the prescribed connection method and x it with terminal screws.4) Fasten the cord by screwing in the grand nut.

3. Cable wiring Be sure using Cabtyre cable with size between Ø 3.5 and Ø 7 which compliant with IP65. And, use rated torque range when fastening brown nut.

4. Cord entry changing method After separating the terminal block and housing, the cord entry direction can be changed by attaching the housing in the desired direction(from 4 directions in 90°)

5. Lamp equipped type Be careful so that lamp will not be damaged by wires. 6. Connector connection Connect the connector straightly in 90°. power saving circuit is applied, take care of polarity of the connector. Suitable outer diameter of Cabtyre wire is ø3.5~ø7

Piping

Caution1. Before piping is connected, it should be thoroughly blown out with air ( ushing) or washed to remove chips, cutting oil and other debris from inside the pipe.

2. When screwing piping or ttings into ports, ensure that chips from the pipe threads or sealing material do not enter the piping. Also, if pipe tape is used, leave 1.5~ 2.0 thread ridge exposed at the end of the threads.

3. For closed center or double check valve types, check the piping to prevent air leakage from the piping between the valve and the cylinder.

Maintenance

Warning1. When components are removed, rst con rm that measures are in place to prevent workpieces from dropping,

run-away equipment, etc. Then, cut off the supply pressure and electric power, and exhaust all compressed air from the system using the residual pressure release function. For 3-position closed center or double check valve type, exhaust the residual pressure between the valve and the cylinder. When the equipment is operated after remounting or replacement, rst con rm that measures are in place to prevent lurching of actuators, etc. Then, con rm that the equipment is operating normally.

2. Valves should be operated regularly to prevent malfunction.

3. When the manual override is operated, connected equipment will be actuated. Operate after safety is con rmed.

Caution 1. Drain ushing

Remove drainage from the air lters regularly.

2. In the case of rubber seals, once lubrication has been started, it must be continued. Use class 1 turbine oil, ISO VG32.

1. P and R position can not be changed reciprocally when piping.

(Valve plate can be detached)

2. Ensure connection so that air is supplied to the port "P". Valve may have

air leakage when air pressure is supplied from other ports.

3. When the valve is installed in an atmosphere where there is a lot of dust,

install a silenscer into the port "R". If dust enters the valve from the

port "R", it may cause malfunction.

4. To stop the valve midway can cause malfunction. Switch the valve to

each position quickly and rmly.

Bracket is sold separately. Bracket is required if a residual pressure exhaust valve is combined with a modular style FRL.

Structure

How to Use

Residual pressure exhaust valve is basically installed at the exhaust port as shown in the figure above.

The supply or exhaust status of the air flow can be verified at a glance in the indicating window.

When in the exhaust position, the valve may be padlock secured to prevents accidental start-ups.

1. Port 1 is inlet port, port 2 is outlet port, and port 3 is exhaust port. (Only port 1 is pressurizable. Check the connection before operation as misconnection of port may cause malfunction.2. The valve must be switched to each position instantly and securely. Stopping the knob between the extreme positions may cause malfuntion.3. Do not remove the mounting screws from the knob.
