    SECTION 02100

    SITE DEMOLITION

    PART 1 - GENERAL

    1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

    A. The demolition (including the removal or salvaging) of buildings, fences, culvertsand all other debris/materials as shown on the plans and which is within theproject area and adversely affects the installation and aesthetics of the new work.

    B. Salvaged items to be relocated shall be temporarily stockpiled until relocation ispossible. Coordinate temporary stockpile areas with the Owners Representative.

    C. The Contractor shall visit the site and become familiar with existing items to be

    demolished and/or salvaged. The Contractor shall obtain and pay for all permitsrequired for the proper off-site disposal of such structures as well as all otherwork of this section. Dispose of in a legal manner and conform to all applicablelocal laws. No burning is permitted on Owner's property.

    D. Coordinate work of this section with applicable utility companies.

    E. Salvageable items: The Contractor shall verify with the Owners Representativeany items noted to be removed that will be salvaged by the Owner. Deliversalvaged items to a storage facility designated by the Owners Representative.

    A. Section 02230 - Site Clearing.

    1.3 JOB CONDITIONS

    A. Traffic: Conduct demolition operations to ensure minimum interference withroads, streets, walks, and other adjacent areas. Do not close or obstruct streetsor walks without permission from authorities having jurisdiction.

    PART 2 - PRODUCTS

    2.1 TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE

    A. Provide barriers and flagman as required to protect pedestrian and vehiculartraffic on Windward Road from demolition operations.

    PART 3 - EXECUTION

    3.1 PREPARATION

    A. Protect benchmarks and survey control points from damage or displacement.

    3.2 UTILITIES

    A. Utilities on and adjacent to the site in the area of demolition, whetherunderground or overhead, shall be protected or relocated as required toaccomplish new work all in coordination and in conformance with the utility

    Owner. Coordinate all necessary removals and relocations. The Contractor isresponsible for verifying the location of all existing underground utilities.

    3.3 PROTECTION OF EXISTING WORK

    A. Protect and be responsible for all existing facilities to remain within the area ofdemolition operations. Any disturbance or damage to existing facilities to remainresulting directly from this operation shall be promptly restored, repaired orreplaced to the satisfaction of the Owner's Representative at no additional cost tothe Owner.

    3.4 CLEARING VEGETATION

    A. See Section 02230 for clearing operations.

    3.5 REMOVALS

    A. Remove all items indicated to be demolished on the plans. Salvage those itemsindicated to be salvaged and deliver to a storage facility designated by theowners representative. All materials indicated to be removed from the site shallbe disposed of in a legal manner.

    3.6 POLLUTION CONTROLS

    A. Use water sprinkling or other suitable methods to limit dust and dirt rising andscattering in the air to the lowest practical level. Comply with governingregulations pertaining to environmental protection.

    B. Clean Windward Road, structures and improvements of dirt, dust and debriscaused by work of this section and as directed by the Owner's Representative.

    3.7 DISPOSAL OF WASTE MATERIALS

    A. Remove all waste (metal, concrete, wood etc.) debris, and unsuitable materialsresulting from work of this section from the Owner's property and dispose of in alegal manner. Obtain and pay for all required permits for the off-site disposal of

    all work specified in this section. Comply with local law.

    B. No burning on site is allowed.
