    IP Abis/Iub Interface

Different from traditional base stations, SDR basestations adopt the all-IP architecture. Their Abis/Iub interfaces use the IP protocol andphysical bearing medium is FE/GE or E1/T1 (IPover E1/T1) instead of traditional TDM over E1/T1.IP over E1/T1 can take advantage of the existingtransmission equipment to save investment.FE/GE can obtain more bandwidth, whichcomplies with the evolution trend of the IP-basedtelecommunications system.

    Configuration Flow

Data planning is kernel part processof the entire SDR data configuration.Hardware Inspection checks theSDR rack, board, physicalconnection, antenna, and externalalarms. It is performed on theconstruction site and is notintroduced in this manual.LMT is a quick configuration tool fora single SDR base station. Amaintenance engineer can connectthe SDR and perform dataconfiguration by LMT.OMCB is the network managementconfiguration tool for SDR basestations. After SDR is connected toOMCB, all the LMT functions canbe performed by OMCB.The BSC/RNC side uses theinterfacing data with SDR.

can see that the interface numbers are 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from right to left. The RRUprovides two optical fiber interfaces via theDTR board. One is used to connect theBBU with the interface number of LC0; theother is used to connect the lower-levelRRU with the optical interface number of

LC1.Select star or link for the topologytype. RRS cascade can be realized onlywhen the topology type is link.

1 The command used to add a route on OMCB (SBCX) is:#route add -net 112.12.6.18 gw 139.29.12.254 netmask255.255.255.0 139.29.12.1

Note In the LINUX system, the command used to add a route is:

route add -net destination network address gw next-hopaddress netmask IP address of the network mask2 After the operation, execute the netstat nr commandto view the route.3 Set a permanent route. After adding the route using the

route add command, to avoid route loss after restarting theSBCX, you can add the line blow into the /etc/rc.d /rc.localfile as the root user:#route add net 112.12.6.18 gw 139.29.12.254 netmask255.255.255.0 139.29.12.1

    114/135

According to the planned data, there are totally four E1lines to be processed on EIPI board. HDLC ID2, HDLC ID3,and HDLC ID4 use the same communication port number.HDLC ID5 is a dedicated channel of OMCB and it needsan individual port number. Therefore ,four IP Over E1 port

    numbers need to be created.
