Megan Malone, left, — described by her parents as their “beautiful little princess” died in New York at 3am yesterday. She had spent nine months in the US last year for what was hoped would be life-saving treat- ment. When she returned home she was free from cancer. However, tumours were discovered to have grown again earlier this year, and she and her family returned to New York during the summer for further treatment. However, her devastated parents Sheila and John, sister Chloe and brothers Dylan and Tristan, were returning home from New York today to prepare for her funeral in the coming days. They announced her death on their website saying: “Megan battled her terrible disease for over 26 months and it finally got By ANN MURPHY the better of her little body and soul. We are so so devastated.” The statement continued: “Our hearts are truly broken. We will never ever forget you Megan. “We love you so so much. No more suffering, no more pain. Poor poor little darling Megan, may you rest in peace.” This morning, local parish priest Fr Dick Browne said the Malone family had invested huge energy in fighting to keep Megan alive. And he said prayers were being said at local masses for the family. The brave fighter was first diagnosed with cancer in October 2010 — a week after the birth of her youngest brother Tristan. The Malones were told that Megan had just three weeks to live, after being diagnosed with tumours on the brain and spine.
