WehaveprovidedalltheScripturesreferencesinthesermonandsomediscussionquestionsforyoutousetofacilitateadiscussion.ThisSermonDiscussionGuideisonlyatooltoaidyouinmeetingtheneedsofyourgroup.Formostgroups,therearetoomanyquestionstoanswerinonesessiontogether.Whilethequestionsareimportant,rememberyourgroup’sgoalisnottogetthroughthequestions,buttocreateanatmospherethatwillfostertruefriendships.Usethediscussionquestions

1. Inthisnextseason,wearecommittedtobeingachurchandpeoplethatisLEDBYTHEPRESENCEOFGOD.WemustgetbehindGod’spresenceandletHimleadus.Joshua3:1-5EarlyinthemorningJoshuaandalltheIsraelitessetoutfromShittimandwenttotheJordan,wheretheycampedbeforecrossingover.2Afterthreedaystheofficerswentthroughoutthecamp,3givingorderstothepeople:“WhenyouseethearkofthecovenantoftheLORDyourGod,andtheLeviticalpriestscarryingit,youaretomoveoutfromyourpositionsandfollowit.Thenyouwillknowwhichwaytogo,sinceyouhaveneverbeenthiswaybefore.Butkeepadistanceofabouttwothousandcubitsbetweenyouandtheark;donotgonearit.”5Joshuatoldthepeople,“Consecrateyourselves,fortomorrowtheLORDwilldoamazingthingsamongyou.”
ThiswasthepeopleofIsrael,God’speople,andGodhadfreedthemfromtheirslaveryinEgyptandledthemoutandtheplanwastoleadthemintotheirpromisedland.ThispromisedlandwastheplacewhichGodhadforthem.Aplacethatwasbeyondtheirunderstanding...aplacethatwasbeyondtheirdreams...aplaceoffreedomandabundancefortheirlives.
Aftertravelingthroughthedesertfor40yearstheycometotheborderoftheirpromisedland.Andbeforetheyenter,Godhassomethingimportantforthem.
Verse3–GetbehindthepresenceofGod.Don’tgetaheadofit.ItiseasysometimestogetoutinfrontofGod’spresenceandstartlivingforourselves.That’swhatthepeopleofIsraeldidathefirsttime,andGodwantedtomakesurethatdidn’thappenagain.
Why?We’veneverbeenthiswaybeforeandweneedGod’spresencetoleadustothenextseason.
2. Inthisnextseason,wemustbeachurchandpeoplethatisFILLEDWITHTHEHOLYSPIRIT.FilledwithGod’spowertosharethesimplegospelofJesus.Acts1:4-5Ononeoccasion,whilehewaseatingwiththem,hegavethemthiscommand:“DonotleaveJerusalem,butwaitforthegiftmyFatherpromised,which5youhaveheardmespeakabout.willbebaptizedwiththeHolySpirit.”ForJohnbaptizedwithwater,butinafewdaysyouwillbebaptizedwiththeHolySpirit.Don’tgoanywhere...butwaitforthebaptismoftheHolySpirit.Don’tstepintothisnewseasonuntilyougetthepresenceoftheHolySpiritINYOU.Why?Acts1:8-9ButyouwillreceivepowerwhentheHolySpiritcomesonyou;andyouwillbemywitnessesinJerusalem,andinallJudeaandSamaria,andtotheendsoftheearth.”
PowerfromtheHolySpiritcomingonyou...soyoucanbeawitness...toeveryone.ThepurposeofthepoweristoproclaimthenameofJesustoeveryone!ThepurposeofthepowerisforOTHERpeople.Acts2:5-6,11btherewerestayinginJerusalemGod-fearingJewsfromeverynationunderheaven.6Whentheyheardthissound,acrowdcametogetherinbewilderment,becauseeachoneheardtheirownlanguagebeingspoken.....wehearthemdeclaringthewondersofGodinourowntongues!”Whatdidtheydo?Theyproclaimed,BOLDLY,thewondersofGodineverylanguagethatwasrepresentedtherethatday.Itwasn’tthem,itwastheHolySpiritinthem!
3. Inthisnextseason,wemustbeachurchandpeoplethatis
DEVOTEDTOAHEALTHYCHURCHRHYTHMEachofuscommittedtotheBiblicalpatternofhowandwhythelocalchurchengagedintheirchurchcommunity
Acts2:41-47Thosewhoacceptedhismessagewerebaptized,andaboutthreethousandwereaddedtotheirnumberthatday.Theydevotedthemselvestotheapostles’teachingandtofellowship,tothebreakingofbreadandtoprayer.43Everyonewasfilledwithaweatthemanywondersandsignsperformedbytheapostles.Allthebelieversweretogetherandhadeverythingincommon.45Theysoldpropertyandpossessionstogivetoanyonewhohadneed.46Everydaytheycontinuedtomeettogetherinthetemplecourts.Theybrokebreadintheirhomesandatetogetherwithgladandsincerehearts,47praisingGodandenjoyingthefavorofallthepeople.AndtheLordaddedtotheirnumberdailythosewhowerebeingsaved.
Theworddevotedmeanstosteadfastlyattentivetosomething.Tocontinueandpersevereandnotgrowfaintindoingsomething.TherearefourthingsweseetheyweredevotedtoandmakesupourstrategyandourLoveCityChurchrhythm.GATHER|EverypersondevotedtoatleastONEphysicalgatheringeveryweek.Acts2:1,44,46WhenthedayofPentecostcame,theywerealltogetherinoneplace...Andallthebelieversmettogetherinoneplaceandsharedeverythingtheyhad...TheyworshipedtogetherattheTempleeachday...Acts2:46Everydaythecontinuedtomeettogether...Noticethefrequencyofthechurch–Everyday
Everydaytheycontinuedtomeettogether...TheLordaddedtotheirnumberdaily...Thechurchisn’tadayorabuilding.Thechurchispeople.Therefore,weexistEVERYDAYFOREVERYPERSON.Eachofthesegatheringopportunitiessharesimilarcomponents,soyoucouldcommittoanyoneofthemandit’dprovidesimilarcontent.Weseewhathappenedintheirgatherings.Acts2:42Theydevotedthemselvestotheapostles’teachingandtofellowship,tothebreakingofbreadandtoprayer.Fivecomponentsofeverygathering:1.Apostlesteaching(God’swordtaught)
2.Worship3.Prayer4.Communionoreatingtogether5.CommunityGrow|EverypersoncommittedtoaGroupeitherphysicallyordigitallyeveryweek.Acts2:44-46Allthebelieversweretogetherandhadeverythingincommon.They...metinhomesfortheLord’sSupper,andsharedtheirmealswithgreatjoyandgenerosity...Thisishowwemeasureoureffectivenessasachurch.WeareaskingeverypersontobecommittedeitherdigitallyorphysicallytoaGroupeachweek.Thisisourstrategyforpastoringalargegroupofpeopleallthroughoutthecity,thenationandtheworld,bothphysicallyanddigitally.Thisiswherethebodyministryhappens.Inthesamewayasourgatherings,ourgroupswillhavethefivecomponentsoftheearlychurch:Fivecomponentsofeverygathering:1.Apostlesteaching(God’swordtaught)2.Worship3.Prayer4.Communionoreatingtogether5.CommunityGive|Everypersoncommittedtoinvestingtheirtime,treasuresandtalentsinthechurcheveryweek
Acts2:45Theysoldtheirpropertyandpossessionsandsharedthemoneywiththoseinneed.AsfollowersofChristandmembersofthebodyourfirstresponsibilitytoserveandloveoneanother.John13:35Yourloveforoneanotherwillprovetotheworldthatyouaremydisciples.”Galatians6:10Therefore,wheneverwehavetheopportunity,weshoulddogoodtoeveryone—especiallytothoseinthefamilyoffaith.Weallhavetalents(giftings)...anditisourprivilegetoserveoneanotherwiththem!1Corinthians12:7Aspiritualgiftisgiventoeachofussowecanhelpeachother.Bygivingyourtime,yourtreasures(throughyourtithesandoffering)andyourtalents(yourspiritualandnaturalgiftings)wecanmakeasignificantimpactinmanypeople’slives.Youcanmakeadifference!Go|Everypersoncommittedtoinviting,sharingandtellingothersaboutJesusandLCCeveryweek.Thegoalisforpeopletosharethegoodnewsandinviteotherstobeapartofourrhythm.Why?Sowecanreach365people!Acts2:47AndtheLordaddedtotheirnumberdailythosewhowerebeingsaved.
