Local Organizations Honor Dr. Kings LegacyDr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. In the spirit of bringing love and light to our community for Martin Luther King Day on Monday January 18th, events celebrating Dr. Kings life and work will be held this weekend.Amongst these celebrations of Dr. Kings life is the Martin Luther King Family Outreach Cen-ters Capital Campaign Kick-off and Celebra-tions, which will be held at the Spokane Con-vention Center on Monday, January 18th. The Martin Luther King Family Outreach Center will be unveiling plans for their brand-new build-ing, as well as informing the community about upcoming events and changes to their organiza-tion beginning at 10am. Immediately following the Campaign Kick-off, a rally will be held in Dr. Kings honor. The rally will promote solidarity, unity, respect, and Dr. Kings vision, and will in-clude a march. Following the rally, a resource fair will be held from 11am-2pm in the same location. This is a free event for the general public.
