• India is surrounded to the southwest by the Arabian Sea, to the southeast by the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean to the south. Along its northeastern frontier are the Himalayas.

• The Ganges is the longest river in India, it’s 2506 km long.

• Its capital is Delhi.

• Elephants were born in the wild, but men caught and tamed them. These elephants pull trees for building houses, carry heavy loads, and fight in wars.

Indian people don’t eat cows, because Hindus think that cows are sacred. But people use cows to pull carts, and for plowing fields, and also use cows' milk to make yogurt.

People also get a lot of their milk from water buffaloes.

•Sheep and goats arrived from West Asia maybe about the same time.

•There were also a lot of wild animals in India. Tigers and monkeys and big snakes live in the forests in some parts of India.

WOMEN’S WEAR• The language, religion

and dresses of the people change according to the region where they live.

• In northern part of India Salwar Kameez is popular among women. Salwar is a type of loose trouser, which is worn with lose Kurta known as Kameez. It’s easy to wear.

• Womens in India like saari, too.

MEN’S SECTION• Dhoti and Kurta is the

native Indian dress for men. Dhoti is a piece of cloth, which is tied at the waist, and one part of it is passed between the legs and is tucked at the back.

• Kurta is a type of an Indian tunic These days Indian men’d like to wear dresses such as trousers, jeans and shirts.

•The Indian gods are always 25 years old.

•They usually produce about 800 000 tones tea a year.

•You can write 1314 characters for a rice.

•There is 63 000 km long railway in India.

•You can find Kőrösi Csoma Sándor’s tomb in Dardzsiling.

•The world’s longest snake lives in India, it’s the Kingcobra.

• People in India used the knucklebones of sheep or pigs to tell the future, or to play a game, and people in India were the first to carve those bones and make marked dice.

• People in India began playing a game they called Snakes and Ladders (we know it as Chutes and Ladders). This was a Hindu game. Each space was called a house, and each house represented a kind of emotion. You threw dice to see how far you should go, and used a shell for your piece. The ladders stood for good feelings, while the snakes stood for bad feelings that took you farther away from Nirvana.

• Athletic games were also popular in ancient India. Camel racing and boat races were also common.

• The indian people like every hot food and spice . The indians like every vegetable. Rice is inevitable. They like fish and chicken, too.

• People could still eat lamb or goats or chicken, but most of the people in India became vegetarians, and only eat meat very rarely or not at all.

• The vegetarian food that Indians eat was mainly wheat flatbreads or a kind of flatbread made out of chickpeas, with a spicy vegetarian sauce, and yogurt. Or people ate rice, with yogurt and vegetables.

• There are a lot of sights in India, but the most famous is Taj Mahal. Most people know it, because it is a very nice building and there is an interesting story about it: There was once a rich couple. They loved each other very much. But the woman died in childbirth. Then her husband built the Taj Mahal for his wife’s memory. Then he put out the builder’s eyes, so they couldn’t build it again.

• You can see again Fatehpur Siki, Ladakh, Amritsar, Hampi, Jaipur and if you have got a lot of money, now you can stay in Goa (it’s a hotel).

Hindu religioun Buddha religioun

The world is neverending and eternal. There is chaos and the cosmos is constantly changing: gods, nature and people are born, die and are reborn.

It has five principles, which lead to Nirvana. It’s forbidden to kill animals, take other people’s wife, lie and drink too much alcohol.

In India mostly is a hindu, and a buddha religioun.

They have got a lot of gods. For example:

Síva is the God of destmetion and clearing. She’s got four arms.

He’s the God of the sun.

He’s the God of death.
