Welcome

How to support St. Tim’s at this time Many people have asked how they can continue to support St. Timothy’s, and the work we are continuing to do, even though we are not gathering to celebrate the Mass together. The best way is to set up an online donation. Please visit this page on our website to get started and to learn more about the other ways you can support us. https://churchofsttimothy.com/supporting-st-tims-1. You can also mail your envelope/check in to the office at the address on the back cover of this bulletin.

We appreciate your generosity very much!

Question of the Week: September 27 The Challenge to Forgive

A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, “Son, go and work in the vineyard today.” He answered, “I will not”; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, “I go, sir”; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father? They said, “The first.” (Matthew 21:28–31)

• Ezekiel 18:25-28—Personal responsibility • Philippians 2:1-11—Imitating the humility of

Christ • Matthew 21:28-32—Parable of the two sons

Adults: When have your actions not measured up to your promises? What was the outcome? Kids: Why is it important to follow through on your promises to others?

October 4 Dealing With Injustice Jesus said, “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.” (Matthew 21:43)

• Isaiah 5:1-7 The vineyard song • Philippians 4:6-9—Joy and peace in Christ • Matthew 21:33-43—The parable of the tenants

Adults: How have you used your talents and abilities well for the Reign of God? Kids: What can you do in your week to help the love of God grow in the world?

Priesthood Sunday Sunday, September 27 is Priesthood Sunday. This is a nationwide event coordinated and sponsored by Serra International and promoted by the Serra Club of North-Minneapolis to give each of us the opportunity to show gratitude to our priests. We invite you to pause to pray for Fr Joe and thank him for his continual “yes” to his vocational call to serve as our pastor.

Are you called to our Parish Pastoral Council? St. Timothy benefits from the diversified members contributing to our parish. We would like to strengthen our mix of skills and backgrounds on our Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). The PPC needs two new members this year. We are seeking new perspectives by creating new alignments of people, ideas, and activity. Please join us if the opportunity to consult, discuss, encourage long-term perspective and work collectively with others appeals to you. If you would like to explore serving on the PCC, send a message to [email protected] for a link to the October 8 meeting.

Celebrating new life in Christ in baptism

By David Bach, Director of Stewardship and Development Summer is passing quickly and fall is making guest appearances. We will soon see nature go through changes from green leaves to beautiful colors hard to replicate on a palate. Animals go through many changes to prepare for the next season. Did you know we are not exempt from this change? “Scientists have shown that mood can change with the seasons, as well as metabolism (it's easier to gain weight in the winter). The activity of human genes also changes with the seasons, and so can immune system activity,” says the Huffington Post (12.14..2017). All of us living in a northern climate know someone suffering from seasonal affective disorder. To add more change, Covid-19 has brought additional challenges, limiting our ability to do many of the things that help bring life into balance as the seasons change. How can our spiritual life help us manage these changes? God’s grace is perpetual and not affected by seasons. With the many ways we are called to be good stewards, how are we are being called to pause and focus our stewardship on our faith community - fellow St. Tim’s parishioners - and also on ourselves? • First of all, take care of yourself. Take care of your body, mind, and spirit at

these times of transition in nature. As we see both animals and vegetation adjust, how do we respond while our world may appear to move even faster with school resuming and our work bringing us more demands? Now is the time to call upon God to bring us into balance with more reflection, meditation, and prayer. Allow yourself time daily to slow down, reflect, and seek God’s guidance.

• Take care of each other. Even if we are distant, we can still be close to our loved ones and fellow parishioners with a call, Zoom get together, or a basket of homemade goodies and a note left on a door step. Reflect on those you know well with special challenges this time of the year in this unique time. What would cheer them up and bring them to a good place? A favorite scripture passage? An old photo you found of moments shared together? A request you have for help that will restore their sense of worth?

Be a good steward of yourself and others as we change with the seasons.

Stewardship at St. Timothy’s

Worship and belief are the

roots that bring forth stewardship. Our fellowship

community, filled with prayer and gratitude, has a long-

standing tradition of sharing what we have with others

through the giving of oneself in generosity, action and

involvement, now and into the future. Celebrate with us!

Be a steward of St. Timothy Church.

The Season of Creation is a global, ecumenical effort to pray for and with Earth, our common home. Following Pope Francis’ three-part spiritual ex-exercise of prayer close to nature, reflection on our lifestyle, and restorative action, Fr Joe has been posting daily reflections. They can be viewed on our website at https://churchofsttimothy.com/season-of-creation The Season of Creation will culminate on Octo-ber 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the pa-tron saint of ecology. It’s not too late to join in Fr Joe’s weekly gath-erings for the Season of Creation which draw of Pope Francis’ weekly reflections entitled “Healing for the World.” The group meets via Zoom on Wednesday evenings are and open to all. If you are interested in registering, [email protected].

We were created not to be tyrants, but to be at the heart of a network of life made up of millions of species lovingly joined together for us by our Crea-tor. Now is the time to rediscover our vocation as children of God, brothers and sisters, and stewards of creation…I strongly encourage the faithful to pray in these days that... are being celebrated as a Season of Creation. - Pope Francis
