Overview The Investment Dependency Mapper enables users to graphically display the relationships among investments. Relationships are defined as supporting (input) investments and/or dependent (output) investments. While viewing your investment within eCPIC, the dependency table displays all supporting investments. The table shows the
supporting investment name, supporting investment UPI code, dependency description, critical dependency, external dependency, dependency type, and impact.
3
Select the link to add a new dependency type, which will prompt administrators to add a dependency name and description.
Enter the desired dependency information and save your update.
Once the update has been saved, the new dependency type will be available to users within the investment module.
Within the admin module, system administrators are able to customize and manage dependency types as they are applicable to their current portfolio. As relationships become obsolete, or a group of investments reach the end of lifecycle, administrators can deactivate the dependency type from list of available field options.
To update the dependency type listing in the admin module, navigate to: Field Management > Manage Dependency Types.

Assigning Investment Relationships To view the dependency table within the investments module, navigate to the process where the new field has been added. With no existing relationships previously established for the investment, the table will appear with only column headers. Investment owners can assign the relational dependencies to the table by adding the component information, shown in the
image below.

Adding an Internal Investment Relationship Dependency Click on the Investment drop-down box to assign a supporting investment within your agency’s current portfolio, or select the
‘External Dependency’ checkbox to enter a dependency that is external to your agency.
Once the external dependency checkbox has been selected, the user will be required to enter the ‘Investment Name’ and ’Investment UPI Code’, as this information is not maintained within your agency’s database.
As shown in the screenshot above, enter a thorough explanation in the dependency description field and select the ‘Critical Dependency’ checkbox to identify a critical investment input.
In the ‘Dependency Type’ field, select the type(s) of relationship you are inputting. In the ‘Impact’ text area, explain the consequences of archiving the supporting investment and any data replacement strategies
if the supporting dependency is no longer available. When all component information has been entered, click the button.
eCPIC Tip: As a best practice, when users add an external dependency, the description should include any agencies, laws, rules and regulations that may relate to the supporting investment.
7
Edit or Delete an Investment Relationship Once the investment relationship is added to the table, dependencies can be edited, updated, or deleted from the list of
established relationships. Selecting the link will allow the investment owner to modify the dependency description, critical relationship checkbox,
dependency type, and impact that the supporting investment has on the relationship. When the modifications have been completed, click the link, followed by the icon at the top of the table.
To eliminate a relationship within the dependency table, select the link, followed by the icon.
By clicking the ‘Edit’ link for each supporting investment, changes can be made to other fields in the row.

Dependency Table Icons The dependency table provides users multiple icons to visualize and report the investment relationships. In addition, users can
