ం యడం ం. ంతం అం ఒక హ ఒక అ ర డం.

We learnt how to write “guNintAlu”. “guNimtamu” means combining an vowel to a consonant.

అ న అ ర య ం.

When we do that, we learnt that a vowel changes into a sign (gurtu).

ఒ /ottuluఇ ఒక హ ఇం క హ క యడం, పలకడం ం ం.Now we learn to combine a consonant with another consonant and how to pronounce.

ఒక హ ఇం క హ క న , ండవ హ “ఒ ” ం .

When a consonant is combined with another, the second consonant changes into its “ottu”.

హ ఒక “ఒ ” ఉం ం . ఆ హ క “ఒ ” అం .

Every consonant has an aspiration, It is called the “ottu of that consonant”.

ఒక హ ఒక ం ఒ ల ర వ .

You can combine one or more “ottus” to a base consonant.

హ ల ఒ ల న త త ఒక అ పల .

After joining “ottulu”, a vowel must be added at the end to pronounce.

ఒత /ottu = Aspiration of a

letter.

ఉఉ హరణ Example.

క ఒ “ ”. “ “ is the sign/symbol to write “ottu “of “ka”. It is called ka-ottu. – (mA-rku-lu). ఈ పదం -

+ ఆ = (మ- ర ఆ- ల “ ”) (ma-kAra A-kArAla mA). “ ” is called “మ” pollu. See below for explanation on “ ల ”.

(ra-kAra ka-kAra u-kArAla “rku”. Utter ra, ka, u sounds in that order together) + ఉ = (ల- ర ఉ- ల “ ”) (la-kAra u-kArAla lu)

శ పల లం అ ం ఆ హ న “◌్ ” . ఆ హ క“ ” అం . హ ఉం ం . ల పలకడం ం ప క డం .

Every consonant has a root sound. It is pronounced along with a vowel. Instead if you wish to utter only the base sound, then you should replace the vowel sign with “◌్”. It is called the “pollu” of that letter.

Every consonant has a “pollu”. See the table in the following page for pronouncing pollulu.

Vowels have no pollulu.

Ottulu of consonants can be formed in five ways.1. Some appear “as it is” and written under another letter.2. Some appear without talakaTTu and written under another letter.3. Some appear without talakaTTu and written close to another letter with slightly
