Zara Mahmood has written about her experiences at the Book of the Year Competition in Halifax. On Wednesday 24th, Miss Thomas took me and nine other friends to Halifax for the Calderdale Children’s Book of The Year Award, and Longroyde had entered the competition too. Earlier this year, the ten pupils (including me) found out we had been chosen to compete for the best author to be chosen. The first step was to read four new books- written by four different, new authors- and write a review for each book. Also, we were told that there would be prizes for best reviews, so we were even more overjoyed! Then the time came, and we all arrived at Halifax library, on an early bus. We were the first ones to enter the library and take our spaces. Read the rest of the article at… www.longroyde.weebly.com
