4. Policy Implications of the research proposal

In no more than 1 page, please state the study’s explicit relevance to MSF’s work and social and family research, policy implications and long-term impact for Singapore.

5. Details of Research Proposal

Give a description of the research in no more than 10 pages (page count excludes the references and annexes). Proposal must address the following:

1. Research objectives, background, purpose, significance2. Brief literature review 3. Research questions4. Proposed methodology5. Research limitations, i.e. limitations of the proposed methodology or research

approach6. Data needed, hypotheses, analysis7. Proposed use of findings, including whether the data will be used by your research

assistant(s) 8. References cited should be provided at the end of the document9. Proposal should be sufficiently self-contained for an assessment without further

reference to other materials.

6. Project milestones and timeline

Project milestones will be used for performance assessment of the research. A satisfactory progress is required for continued disbursements of funds.

Describe key stages of your research and indicate the targeted period of completion.

In general, the research should not exceed 3 years in duration (e.g. Jan 2019 to Dec 2021). PI must ensure that the project timeline is reasonable and runs continuously (i.e. no intermittence, as illustrated in the example below)
