PENTECOST SUNDAY From Father Jim “Jesus stood up and exclaimed; ‘Let anyone who thirsts come to Me and drink. As Scripture says: Rivers of living water will flow from within him who believes in Me.’ He said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe were to receive.” The great event in Jerusalem, marked by wind, noise and fire, was a moment of fulfillment and at the same time of beginning for the life of the church. The signs and wonders of Pentecost are so familiar surrounding the radical change which took place in the upper room. Jesus speaks to us today, leading me to ask myself: Do I thirst for the Lord? When we are thirsty we long for a drink, for refreshment, to be renewed. The reading from John, who always speaks about belief and believers, reminds me to pray ‘Come Holy Spirit’ in the events of my daily life. I am thirsty for the Lord, yes or no. The Spirit is part of my family life, of my home and work. The Spirit leads and guides me, but only if I ask and give in. Remember the words Jesus said at Calvary, ‘I thirst’. He thirsts still for you and for your Spirit filled life. IMMACULATE CONCEPTIONSCHOOL NEWS

It is hard to believe how close we are to the end of the school year! Teachers and students are working

feverishly to finish projects, activities, and content as they wrap us the year.

This week, our youngest students will be going on a field trip. Please pray for safe travels and a wonderful experience for our students, staff, and chaperones. On Wednesday, our 3rd

graders will be presenting their “Living Museum” which has become a tradition where our students research a historic figure and prepare a presentation in the model of a wax museum, where they come to life in costume to present their character’s life story. It is the culmination of a lot of work on the part of our students, Mrs. Lane, and the parents. Friday is a half day, and there is no after care as students and staff head off to enjoy Memorial Day weekend. There is no school Monday, May 28th

Wednesday evening, we will celebrate with 8th

graders who have earned scholarships to Catholic high schools across the diocese. Bishop Malooly will present certificates to all attendees. Congratulations to Aubrey Clarke (St. Mark’s High School), Victoria Crockett (Padua Academy), Sean Mann (Salesianum School), Evan Pickering (St. Mark’s High School), Ariane Simbulan (St. Elzabeth School), and Kwame Solomon (Archmere Academy). Their hard work and dedication has paid off, and we are so proud of what they have each achieved.

The school is looking for a long-term substitute for the fall, from mid-September to late November. Interested candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and will need to have a background check on file. For more information or if you would like to be considered, please contact Jeanne Dinkle at the school office 410-398-2636 or at [email protected].
