It is our hope that you have already registered and will be joining us. Once that our new Regional Executive Board is elected, regional business moves to appointing our Regional General Board. As convention is later this year, the RGB will be chosen at Kinnus Gadol by the new board and announced at Installations on Monday of convention. The RGB is an integral part of the workings of Tzafon. By being active on RGB, you can help program for conventions and Kinnus, and take a more involved role in Regional activities. The REB are crucial for planning and executing day to day and convention-based programming for the entire region. Just as with the REB positions, each and every RGB chairmanship is very important and it is hoped that we get at least one application for each position. Take time to also read through the “Regional General Board Booklet”, available on our website. It gives an idea of not only most of the chairmanships are about but also gives a wealth of information and will hopefully serve as a springboard of new ideas and amazing programming. The Tzafon Region Constitution stresses that all members of the REB and RGB need to be “in good standing” with their chapters. Therefore, all REB and RGB members must take an active role in re-invigorating their chapters. OVERSEEN BY THE REL/ED VPOVERSEEN BY THE REL/ED VP

Regional General BoardPosition Summaries

Religion/Education- This chairmanship helps the Regional Rel/Ed VP in their duties. They are expected to be able to help with assigning parts of services (ie torah reading, hagbah, aliyot). Also, the Rel/Ed Chair may be asked to help write and and will be involved in leading study sessions having to do with Rel/Ed. (Generally 1-2 people)

 Heschel- This chairmanship specifically helps the Regional Rel/Ed VP with The Abraham Joshua Heschel Honor Society. This club helps USYers become active Jews. The Heschel Chair will help plan and run the Heschel program. (often combined with REL/ED)Ruach- What would USY be without ruach? Ruach is essential to a convention. This chairmanship helps lead ruach with the Rel/Ed VP and the rest of the REB. They must be familiar with the ruach songs and extremely enthusiastic.(Generally 2 people) 

 Israel Affairs / HeChalutzim- This chairmanship helps the Israeli Affairs VP in their duties. S/he is responsible for educating the region on Israel and instilling the love for Israel into the USYers. The IA/HeChal Chair acts a source of information on Israel. S/he assists the IA VP in writing and leading both the Israel program and the HeChalutzim program. If you love Israel, or are going over the summer, you may want to consider this position to share all you learned with the Region!! (Generally 2 people)

Social Action- This chairmanship helps the SA/TO VP in their duties. They are responsible for providing the region with many different social action programs that show USYers how they can give back to the community and get involved. The Social Action Chair will assist the SA/TO VP in planning and leading any social action related programs. (Generally 1 person) Tikun Olam- This chairmanship helps the SA/TO VP in their duties. In USY, TO refers to the money, or tzedakah, that USYers raise. This person is responsible for helping the SA/TO VP raise money in the region. This position should also educate the region on where the TO money goes. The T.O. Chair will assist the SA/TO VP in planning and leading TO-related programs. (Generally 1 person) 613- This chairmanship helps the SA/TO VP in their duties. They are responsible for promoting the 613 Mitzvah Corps and urging people to join. The 613 Chair helps the SA/TO VP plan the 613 program (usually held at night). (Often combined with Social Action &/or Tikun Olam chair)

Senior Programming- This chairmanship creates all the senior-specific programs to be run at conventions (usually at night). The Senior Programming Chair must be filled by a senior (or seniors). They make sure that the seniors have a memorable final year in Tzafon. (Generally 2 people) Class Based Reps (Freshman/Sophomore/Junior)- This chairmanship helps the Membership/Kadima VP in their duties. The Class Representatives help to create Class Bonding activities and give other USYers a chance to take an active role in USY. They are responsible for creating a bond between the people in their class. They can assist the Mem/Kad VP in class bonding. Generally one/grade, except in the case of the Freshman reps, as they work to recruit freshmen to actively join USY in order to create a strong class. (We plan on at least 1 rep for each grade 10th and 11th. We’ll be choosing Freshman reps later. Kadima Liaison- This chairmanship helps the Membership/Kadima VP in their duties. They are responsible for creating an active Kadima within Tzafon. This includes working with Kadima Chapters to help them grow. They will also help plan any Kadima events along with the rest of the Regional Executive Board, under the leadership of the Mem/Kad VP.(Generally 2 Reps)    Social Media RGB- This chairmanship helps the Communications VP in their duties. They will keep the Comm in gathering material (sometimes from other RGB or REB) for publication on all forms of TZAFON social media, whether it be Constant Contact emails, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. They will help create and maintain the Social Media calendar for Tzafon to make sure that the entire region stays excited about all activities of the Region. Kol Tzafon- This chairmanship specifically helps the Communications VP in their duties pertaining to Kol Tzafon. Kol Tzafon is the Tzafon magazine. It can be print and/or ONLINE. They could also be the person creating fun promos for conventions. This chairperson should strive to publish a new edition at every regional convention. They are responsible for getting articles from USYers and creating games (ie crosswords) to make Kol Tzafon exciting. Yearbook/Video - This chairmanship helps the Communication VP in creating the Video and/or Yearbook, which is to be presented at the final convention, Regionals. They must gather pictures, collect senior wills, and create an engaging Yearbook. If you love to take pictures, this is for you!!
