Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Next Sunday is the feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus, (Corpus Christi). These three solemn celebrations, together with Easter and Christmas, form a foundation of our Catholic Christian Faith.   Because of our Baptism and Confirmation, we have been given the capacity to believe in the truths (dogmas) which God has revealed to us.  This is God’s gift to us.  We are now called to ACT on our beliefs.  It is for us to make these sacred truths (dogmas) part of our life.  It is one thing to say “I believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” and quite another more important step to say, “I have a deep and loving relationship with my Father, with Jesus my Savior, and with the Holy Spirit.”  As an example of comparison: we might say; “I believe in the existence of my family” or say “I have a deep relationship of love with my family.”  May I encourage you to spend some time with God and ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your heart’s love for your loving Heavenly Father and for Jesus your Savior.  Peace and love in Jesus,Fr. Joe

We Celebrate our High School Graduates

We ask God’s special blessings on our High School Graduates:

Welcome, precious little child. So divine from God above. Christened today in Jesus’ name, Held in His

arms of love. May angels guide your tiny feet and bring you smiles to wear and may our Heavenly

Father always keep you in His care. Thanks Are in Order

It takes a lot of teamwork to make things happen at Holy Rosary. Just recently several people in the parish came together to remove shrubs and weeds and plant flowers around the church. Doesn't it look great? Last Sunday a group of men from the church hosted a Mother's Day breakfast for all the mothers at Holy Rosary. Thanks, guys! This Sunday our Fellowship Ministry will host a Pentecost celebration after Mass and next Sunday they will host a celebration for our high school graduates. It takes a lot of time and effort to make things happen in our church. Thanks are certainly in order.   A special thank you to Mike Ellis for cleaning the Mary and angel statues in front of the church!

Sarah Post Awarded Knights Scholarship

This Year the Knights of Columbus Council 603 was pleased to announce the 2018 Father Mark T. Gallipeau High School Scholarship. The scholarship was established through the vision of the Elkins Council of the Knights of Columbus. Council 603 offers one scholarship to an active Catholic high school senior. Applications were open to all active members of the Holy Rosary, Saint Patrick’s of Coalton, and Saint Brendans’s parish. One $2000 scholarship will be awarded (divided into four $500 payments over four years) as long as the student is enrolled in school. The Father Mark T. Gallipeau Memorial Scholarship in intended to recognize a Catholic high school senior who has demonstrated commitment to their school, church, and community and has exhibited academic achievement. This year Council

603 Knights of Columbus was honored to select Sarah Post of Holy Rosary Parish. Congratulations, Sarah! We’re Doing Better! We are grateful to those who have already contributed to the Catholic sharing Appeal but to date, only 26 of our families have donated to the Catholic Sharing Appeal.  We now have $8,773 and are well on our way to our goal of $11,100 but we need a donation from everyone!  From now on, every penny is returned to Holy Rosary for our use in paying preliminary bills to prepare for our new building.  Please send in your contributions no matter the amount.  You

may send the envelope directly to the diocese or place it in the collection or give it to Fr. Joe or Bro. Roy., but make sure that it is marked “Catholic Sharing

Appeal.” Christian Fellowship

MeetingThe next meeting of the Christian Fellowship Group will be held on June 3rd after the 9 a.m. liturgy.

Facilities and GroundsCan You Help?

Some of our parishioners are working very hard to make our church and the surrounding campus of Holy Rosary Parish a

beautiful facility, both inside and outside. We have begun the process with our beautiful new carpet, and we would like to continue by gathering some interested parishioners to discuss ongoing needs for the interior and exterior of our church and its surrounding buildings. This is just an initial look, and a chance to prioritize what needs to be done. We would love a core group of men and women to help with this task. Can you help us? Contact Father Joe to see how you can assist. Thanks! of our School of Religion.

Ordinary Time Arrives Following the Pentecost feast, the Church returns to what is called ‘Ordinary Time.’ Ordinary comes from the Latin language and refers to ‘order’ or ‘numbers,’

so we go forward with the numbered Sundays. This counting and numbering lasts until the season of Advent arrives in preparation for the Christmas festivities. Following the Pentecost feast on May 20th, the Church will celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday and then the feast of Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ) before celebrating the Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time on June 10th. There continue to be major Feast days which occur and bring a pause to the numbered Sundays, but Sunday remains always ‘a little Easter’ no matter what. The Sunday Eucharistic Celebration stands at the head of the week and leads us through the weeks and days. May your Ordinary Time be especially blessedwherever you worship.

Summertime We pray that all of our parishioners have a happy and healthy summer. Parents, please continue to bring your children to mass during the summer. Oftentimes, we don’t see families at mass until School of Religion begins in the fall. Also, please remember to make your weekly contributions when you return from vacation. Our parish bills do not stop during the summer, so we need everyone’s help with this.

Holy Rosary Track StarsHoly Rosary Church was well represented at the State Track Meet when Samuel Walker, and Kennedi and MaKenzie Lewellyn from Buckhanon Upshur High School, along with Sarah and Avery Post from Lewis County High School, traveled to Charleston last weekend. The Lewellyn’s competed in the pole vault, 4x200 and 4x400. Kennedi tied the school record of 9’6” in pole vault at regionals and broke Brooke’s stadium record. Samuel ran the 4x400 and placed 6th in their heat. Avery placed 15th in the 400 and currently holds the school record in the 4x800. Sarah competed in 3 events: the 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and the 4x200 bringing home 4th, 6th, and 11th places respectively. She also holds records in 4x55 shuttle hurdles and the 4x102 shuttles hurdles. Congratulations on a great season! Your Holy Rosary Family is proud of you.

New Summer Mass TimePlease note our new mass time on Saturday at Holy Rosary Church is 5 p.m. This time is only for the summer and it begins on June 2 and ends on September 1, when we will begin our 7 p.m. liturgies again. Remember to mark your calendars: Saturday summer mass time at Holy Rosary is 5 p.m. from June 2 through August 25.

Church LookingOur church is looking for someone who can do a small but sorely needed cement job and replace some bricks in the back of the rectory. If you know of someone who might be able to do that, please contact either Fr. Joe or Bro. Roy.

Scheduling MassesThank you to all who have offered masses for loved ones at Holy Rosary Parish. Please be aware that although you ask for a certain date, it may not be possible to schedule a mass on that date. Canon Law requires that one of the parish masses each weekend be offered for the intentions of its parishioners, or “for the people.” Since we only have two masses per weekend at Holy Rosary, that leaves only one open mass that can be used for your intentions. Dates fill up quickly, beginning in January. Please know that we will schedule your requests as close to the date as possible. You are also welcome to request dates at Sacred Heart and West Virginia Wesleyan when they are in season. It is possible that a priest may go on vacation or need to attend a diocesan meeting when there are specific masses scheduled. We will reschedule your masses as close to the specific date as possible. If you have any questions, please contact Father Joe.

Wasn’t It Grand?Last week’s Pentecost liturgy stayed with me this last week. It was an awesome hour to be in this faith community. Here are some highlights: the

rosary prayed outdoors in the lovely green gift from God, the procession with the flowers placed on Mary’s altar, the traditional opening hymn of “Come, Holy Ghost,” the Psalm 102 which peaks of God’s creation and the work of the Holy Spirit, the environment with all the red décor and to all who wore red, the color associated with Pentecost, Father Joe’s always thoughtful homily, the blessing of the water with the special prayers to use at home, the special blessings of Pentecost, the Prayers of the Faithful done in six languages to celebrate our universality, Eucharistic Prayer 4, so perfect for the day, receiving of Jesus’s Body and Blood in our Holy Eucharist to sustain us in our daily living and the joyful birthday celebration we had in Marist Hall with shouts of “Happy Birthday” and a shared Pentecost cake! It couldn’t have been better! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make that day so wonderful.Below are the special prayers we prayed last week during the Prayers of the Faithful. We invite you to pray these prayers this week in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world:

For the Universal Church and the spread of Jesus Christ throughout all nations and lands of the earth, knowing that the Spirit is able to transform the world through our actions.

For the people of Latin America that justice and mercy will flow from all people and that everyone will receive a share of God’s goodness.

For the people who live in Asia and Australia that there will be peace in all lands with all respecting one another and showing mercy toward others.

For the people of Europe that they will find peace, justice, and a spirit of forgiveness in the lands in which they live and that the Word of Jesus Christ will be strong and viable to all.

For the People of North America that they will develop a greater sense of mutual respect an care for the resource of the planet.

For the people in our parish that we will continue to grow in the Holy Spirit and that we demonstrate our discipleship through our daily actions. We are all so blessed to be part of this parish faith community. Thank you, God!

A Note From the ParentsAs Jerome and I watched our twins, Sarah and Avery graduate from high school this weekend, we thought of how fortunate we have been in regards to what wonderful young adults they have become. And this in turn, made us think of our Holy Rosary family. You have been such a blessing in the shaping of their lives.  Each of you through your

teachings, examples, kind words, encouragements, and prayers have helped mold them in to who they are today.  And God has truly blessed them through you.  For that, we are so grateful.  Never underestimate the power each of you has on one another. Please keep Sarah and Avery in your prayers as they go off to college and try to discern God’s will for them.     May God's Blessings be upon each of you,Jerome and Lori Post
