Job title: Volunteer Centre Support Person
Base: Newbridge with a Countywide remit
Hours: 14 hours per Fortnight
Reporting to: Centre Manager
Key Areas of work:
Assisting with Volunteer Placement Services, supporting Volunteer Involving Organisations, Garda Vetting and Volunteer Corps.
Overall Responsibility
To work in conjunction with the Manager to promote, support and develop the Volunteer Centre
Working with Volunteers
Recruit, support and manage volunteers in line with the Centre’s policies and procedures.
Implementing Policies and Guidelines
Help update Centre’s policies and procedures
Garda Vetting
Act as a clerk to support the administration of the Garda Vetting service
Record Keeping
Maintaining accurate records on I-VOL
Report Writing

In conjunction with the Manager, provide reports, both written and verbal on to progress of Volunteer Centre to the steering group and Board.
Promotion
Promote volunteering to all sections of the community across the county. Attend Volunteer Fairs and other Volunteering events
Networking
Keep up to date with volunteering issues regionally and nationally through networking as requested by the Manager
Administration
Undertake daily duties as necessary to maintain the Volunteer Centre Update the website with volunteering news and opportunities Help maintain social media profile
Team
To work closely with the Manager and other staff to implement the work plan and Quality Improvement Plan
Attend and participate in staff meetings within the Volunteer Centre and the Other Attend training as deemed necessary by the Co-ordinator/CEO. Carry out such
other duties as may be assigned by the Co-ordinator/CEO/Board of KVC Carry out such duties as may be assigned from time to time by the

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
A relevant third level qualification (Community development, Social studies for example) and/or
A minimum of 3 years experience within local voluntary / community sector Personal experience of volunteering Excellent ICT skills – intuitive computer user who is comfortable with web based
use as well as MS word, excel etc. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and develop
positive working relationship with a wide range of people and organizations Excellent written communication skills An excellent understanding of the benefits of volunteering and good knowledge of
best practice in volunteer management An excellent understanding of the work of a volunteer centre and the barriers
related to volunteering
Commitment to the mission of the Volunteer Centre and objectives of the post Ability to deliver engaging and effective presentations / public talks/ workshops Ability to work one-to-one and in groups to advise, inform, motivate and support
individuals and organisations Ability to work proactively, to take decisions, to organise own workload, to manage
time effectively and to work within recognised procedures Willingness and ability to travel within the County and to work at several
community venues / libraries in the area Ability to work occasional evenings / alternative days as required, by arrangement Ability to maintain accurate records and statistics Strong organisational and administrative skills Ability to work as part of a small team in a small office and on own initiative Full, clean driverʼs licence, use of your own car
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of delivering one-to-one volunteering brokerage service Experience of using Salesforce database (CRM database)
