Eg: big
A desktop computer is bigger than
a laptop.
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
Eg: light
A laptop computer is lighter than a
desktop.
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
Eg: expensive
A laptop computer is more
expensive than a desktop.
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
Eg: powerful
A desktop computer is more
powerful than a laptop.
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES If the adjective has 1 syllable, we add
–er.
eg: big bigger fast faster old older
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES If the adjective has 2 or more
syllables, we usually use “more + adjective”
eg: powerful more powerful expensive more expensive handsome more handsome
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES If a 2 syllable adjective ends in y, we use “+ier”
eg: friendly friendlier happy happier easy easier
COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES Other words are irregular

COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES For multi-word adjectives, we use “more”.

We have to remember to use “than”

Never use “er” and “more”
