• Use synergies to improve our performance in key areas:
- Implemented centres of excellence for learning, sourcing & reward
• 2 operating models implemented:
- Shared service model report to the largest business entity
- Different business entities have responsibility for a centre of excellence

• Keys to success:
SLAs, shared objectives, robust governance & monitoring of results, high trust
• Adopting the above enabled us to accelerate and deliver new initiatives in the UK:

• Ensure equal opportunity ‘to grow’ by rolling out the same reward scheme across all 5 business entities
• Online self-service technology enabled employees to access all their benefits information when & where they want
• Create an engaging brand to reinforce the ‘personal growth’ message & create unity
• Employ a unique multi-channel campaign
How Do we Execute our UK Reward Plan?
Making it Happen
• Choose to work with Thomsons Online Benefits to help us deliver our vision
• Adopted garden-themed branding across diverse range of online and offline media in line with a ‘great place to grow’
• Norman the Gnome became the ‘face’ of the scheme with an actual gnome delivered to each business unit
• Viral campaign where employees shared photos of Norman & he was even kidnapped with a ransom demand!

Improved Engagement
• Employees rated their reward scheme 24.6% higher
• 86.1% of employees think their current package meets their needs
• Those who ‘flexed’ benefits rated morale 20.2% higher
• 7% increase in: ‘Management shows a sincere interest in me as a person’
Improved Retention
• Those who’ve flexed benefits were 11.3% more likely to be working for us in a year compared to those who didn’t
• 67% vacancies filled internally
• UK graduate turnover is 2 years – in Danone,it’s up to 5 years
The Results
Improved talent attraction
• 80 applicants per graduate role
• 30% of roles now filled through internal employee recommendation scheme
Improved Health, Wealth & Wellbeing
• Healthcare benefits increased by 10% with 93% selecting the health cash plan
• 8% increase: ‘People are encouraged to balance their work and personal life’
• Average employee pension contributions increased from 5.55% to 6.41%
