Dedicate our going efforts to turn this painful part of

our history into a positive future by helping our youth

and others reach their fullest potential, which is some-

thing Emmett did not have a chance to do.

Many of our young people today don't know this

part of our history. Without the knowledge...we are

subject to have history repeat itself. It may not be in

the form of lynching that Emmett experienced, but

lynching in the form of hopelessness, lack of adequate

education, poverty, poor health, obesity, joblessness,

early incarceration, the lack of civic and political en-

gagement and so many other forms of disenfranchise-

ment.

These issues impact

young people from

many diverse communi-

ties including Latino,

Hispanic, Native, Indian

and African American.

We hope to partner with supporters like you to pro-

vide adequate solutions for today's problems and turn

despair into hope.
