part the period frOID.Oot. 9, lU61 to Jan. 1, 1864; nor has the name A.J. Runionbeen found on the muster rolls on file in this office of Company D, 4th (McLemore's) I

Tenne~see Oavalry, CSti.,(also known as the 3rd Rep;iment Tennessee cavalry ,CSA), t

which rolls cover in part the period from r~y 25, 1862 to Dec. 31, 1864; nor has

any record of the service,capture or parole of a mW} bearing that name been foundas of either of the above organizations., The records show that one Andrew J. Runion~ private, Company.Q" 64th Nor,thCarolina Infantry, CSA, enlisted July 15, le62, at Madison, N.C., and on themUster ~oll for A~y and June 1863,(last on which borne), he is shown present.

Prisoner of War records show him captured sept. ~, 1863, at Cumberland Gap,

and his name appears as signature to an Oath of Allegiance--,l8--, indorsement.shows ,"Roll of prisoners of war released June 16, 1865," description, as follows,"Place of residence Madison County, N.C., complexion fair, hair l1f..ht,eyes blue,height six:feet, 1 inch."

The records also show that one A.J. Run~, corporal, Company G, 40th

Te~nessee Infantry,CBA, enlisted Sept. 23, 1861, at Tyddersdale, Ark., age 17years, and on the muster roll for Jan. 1 to Aug. 1862,(last on file), he is shownpresent.

Prisoner of War records show him oaptured April 8, 1862, at Island #10, andhis name appears (as E.J. Runnion) on a Roll of Brisoners of War sent from CampButler, Illin01s, to Vioksburg, Miss., Sept. 23, 1862, for exchan~e.
